I have a Dish Network 508 Receiver and just got a new Home Theatre Receiver, Pioneer VSX-920. I can't get the 508 remote to recognize the codes for the Pioneer Receiver. I've tried all codes listed in the Dish Receiver Manuel. I have got another "universal" remote to recognize the Pioneer receiver. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

use the universal remote, if you tried all the codes then it wont work from our remote. You could try to upgrade your reciever to a 722k and get a learning remote

I would also recommend a Power Scan:

Step 1: Press and hold TV Mode button on your Dish Remote for several seconds until all the lights light up at the top.

Step 2: Press the TV power button (small red button below the main power button at the top of the remote) once. After doing that, keep pressing the channel up button on the remote till the TV turns off.

Step 3: Once TV turns off stop pressing the channel up button and press the record button (red button in the middle of the remote), this saves the code in the remote that works with your TV. Turn the TV back on and switch remote to satellite mode.

If there is a code in your remote that will work with your Pioneer VSX-920 this will find it. but the process has been known to take up to 7 minutes so please be patient.

The power scan steps Phil left were for a TV. Since you're trying to program it to a home theater receiver you would:

-Hold the AUX button until all other mode lights on remote light up (when you let go AUX should be flashing)
-Press the big red power button one time (not the TV power button)
-Press the number "2" then the star(*) button (this tells the remote it will be scanning for what we consider equipment other then a TV, VCR/DVD)
-Point the remote at the stereo system and press the blue up arrow (channel up arrow) once a second until the home theater system turns off.
-If/when the stereo system does turn off, press pound (#)

If the DISH remote will work with the receiver, this power scan should get it.

Also, correcting one of my counter-parts on the previous post above (which would be for a TV, nothing else), you press the big red power button (not the TV power), and you would press the pound (#) button if the TV were to shut off, not the record button.
