Has anyone been able to set up a sound bar with their LCD TV so that there is no need to use the sound bar's remote to control the volume? Dish tech support was of no help. Specifically, I want to use a 20.0 remote that came with my 222k to do this, if possible. I would like to control the sound bar volume/mute function through the Dish remote.

If someone has done this, please tell me what brand/model sound bar you used and what code worked for you.

Apologies if there has been another thread discussing this.

I have a SONY TV with a SONY soundbar system. Lucky for me, the system uses BraviaSync. I just programmed the TV to the DISH remote, the TV automatically "synced" with the sound system and I'm good to go. Can you sync your soundbar with your TV to do this?

Thanks for the reply. However, I have an LG TV and I spoke to the LG tech people who told me their sets will not accomodate even their own LG sound bar in the manner your Sony set does. That was dumb on their part since it would have induced people who bought LG TV's to buy the LG sound bar.

Anyway, a fellow on another site claims success using the 20.0 remote with a Vizio sound bar using a 633 code and the aux button. I didn't want to use a Vizio sound bar but I may buy one from a place like Walmart because they take things back rather easily if I can't make it work.

Come on people. I would have thought this would be a popular topic. There must be a whole lot of people out there in Dish land that either have done this or would like to do this.

If you read the owners manuel it will tell you how to program the Dish remote to devices that have no codes. Then it also tells you how to set the volume lock so the Dish remote controls the volume of te AUX device instead of the TV. As long as the Sound Bar doesn't use UHF signals to control it the 20.0 remote will control it.

I've had no luck with my Philip's HTS8100 soundbar and the dish remote 21.0. I end up using the Philip's remote to control the volume and the Dish remote for changing the channel.

I use a Polk Audio sound bar with my standard remote. The polk soundbar came with a remote but it is also a "learning soundbar" that can use the volume up and volume down buttons from your dish remote. Just press a couple of buttons on the soundbar and point the remote at it to teach it the commands. With my dish remote this works up to about 20feet away once it is programmed. It also learns the TV power on/off button and will toggle on and off with the TV.

I might be able to provide some help on this. OP, you have not mentioned the brand of soundbar you actually have, so if you could I can see what I can do. Also, for any that have not been able to program, just provide the make of the equipment and I can help you too.

Our company uses Boston acoustics for this very reason, All automatic ! no code to find when its set up correctly - automatic turn on and volume.

Hey Guys i have a Vizio sound bar. i had to get a 21.0 learning remote and then i just had it learn the sound bars remote and i through that crappy thing in the drawer. I set the volume rocker to to handle the sound bar instead of the TV , the only draw back is you can not use an optical cable if you want to hear HD sound. (at least i cant) other than that this is awesome and i am very happy with the set up. Everything i did can be found in the user guide of the 21.0 remote.

Please help. LG model LAS454B

I know someone knows. Right now, I have to hit aux to control sound and I want to be able to adjust the volume without switching to aux.

What model of dish receiver do you have so we know which remote you are using. I attached a remote manual. It may not be for the same model but go to page 22 and it should help.

I have Hopper with Sling and the Dish remote works fine with my soundbar. I can control volume and mute. My soundbar has a learning mode so instead of programming my Dish remote, I taught the codes to the soundbar. I had already programmed my Dish remote to control my Panasonic Plasma TV, so I just set the soundbar to learning mode and programmed in the volume up/down and mute functions.

I am using a Harman Kardon SB26 soundbar. Does your soundbar have a learning mode?
