Hello, I need some information on setting up my 36” WSI 90cm satellite dish for using C Band. Is it possible to set this dish up with a C Band lnb? Right now I get very good signals on Ku Band. I now use two dishes and would like to use one as a C Band. I have one stationary and the other with motor. I read a lot about all the other stations people receive on C Band. This late in the year, I don’t want to try and setup a complete larger dish. Maybe try that next summer. Is there any one else using a 36” getting C Band?

If it's 10 feet or nothing, then most can have nothing nowadays. But here is an article to get the discussion going: ftashow.com/cdish.html. I also have an article by a Toronto resident using a small dish for C-band. Anybody with recent experience at this?

I wold not bother even trying just for bragging rights.
A 4 footer is hard enough.
You want C Band, go Big - 10 Foot.
IF you can find one, yes. But don't worry if all you can find is an 8 footer. Mine does a great job of picking up tons of "C" band stuff.

I'm getting a free 7 1/2 ft mesh Winegard dish for C/Ku in a couple of days. I think I may have installed it something like 20 yrs ago. Noise figures for LNB's or so much better now than they were back then that pretty sure it will do a fine job for most sats.

And I'll add that I've got a 7.5ft SAMI mesh that does a real good job here in central Virginia. It's almost as good as my 10ft Winegard on most birds. Keep in mind too that some receivers are better than others as well. I've got an Openbox S9 and an AZBox Elite connected to my SAMI and the openbox will receive some stuff that the Elite WILL NOT. The only thing missing with the Openbox is 4.2.2 and even that isn't a major issue for most ppl.

that wont work due to a few reasons
-most offset dishes the elevation will be different on C-band than KU
-there is a reason that C-Band requires a 6 foot dish and its due to the power output each transponder has and the frequency range that it is in. Yes you can get some really strong transponders with a 4 foot dish. I am one that has proven it before. But it requires lots of time and patience and do you really want to piss away 1/2 an afternoon aiming and tweaking a undersized dish to get maybe 1 or 2 transponders on a satellite at real low signal quality when a 6 foot dish will get all of them (lets say 15) and can take maybe 1/2 hour to aim and tweak and get good results?

Seems like every month to two months we get a new thread asking can you get C-Band on a 4 foot or even smaller dish and the answer hasnt really changed.

i am happy with my 6' dish now that i have it set up right. only channels i still can't get are nbc on 105w. they say i can get them with an 8' and the old dish installer here in town says i can have the 8' dish strapped against the wall of his building. looks like i got a spring project in mind. starting a dish farm? charlie

Look at it this way - The reason C band on a small dish does not work - is the same reason that you can put multiple LNBF on a Ku band dish and see several sats.. A small dish has a larger beamwidth to the sky and can "see" more than what it is pointed to. The problem with C band is that seeing more just picks up interference from other sats...

Based on my experience with a 4 foot dish I will say the best you can do is the LeSEA Christian channels on 99w and the EWTN Catholic channels on 91w with a 3 foot dish. There are a couple more hot signals up there but you will waste a lot of time trying to find them.

If you really want to go for it then buy the conical scaler kit off of ebay for $12. The important thing is it comes with a bracket to mount the LNB to a dish like yours. The C band LNBs on there for $20 don't come with mounting hardware for offset dishes and you will waste a lot of time trying to make one.

I originally intended to use the WSI 9036 for C-Band on a H-H DiSEqC motor, but instead decided to use the GeoSat 1.2M offset dish. I don't have it set up yet (hopefully this Winter), but many members here use the 1.2M for stronger C-Band TPs with good results. The 1.2M WSI would probably do the trick as well. 90CM is very small for C-Band...

Tron, When you get your 1.2M up, let me know your results. I am thinking of getting the 1.2 meter in the Spring for my C-Band adventure.

I have a 40X43 mini setup on 99w.
I get tp 3790 at 42q
3820 at 70q
3845 at 70q
4000 at 70q
3825 at 50q
I use my Openbox which seems to sneak in tps my other boxes cant see.
99w is a bird i would recommend for folks that wish to play with a minibud.
It made me hungry and the only food that satisfied was more and bigger buds.
there is much reading that can be done , just search a bit.
Thing is, minibuds are not so hot for s2 signals , that helped convince me to go bigger dish
