I have seen so many BAD "town in a dome" movies going back to the 60s. Hell, even the Simpson's movie. I guess I have to get the book and read it to see what makes this one different.

Would be interesting as a MINI Series. I don't know why they don't do more mini series any more. Anyone remember Roots? Rich Man/ Poor Man? The Thornbirds? Winds of War? All were great ratings boosters and all ended with no one left wondering the endings. This would be perfect as a summer mini series ,when nothing else is on anyway.
This needs to be a 2 part mini-series. I read King's first take on this way back in the late 70's. I then read the full book 3 years ago or so when it came out.
The ending was not good, if you've watched "The Twilight Zone" a few times through... VERY predictable, and you see it coming 5 miles away...

To be honest, I would love to see more, a lot more, 13-episode one-and-done serials where everything is covered from soup-to-nuts, clean and quick, get in - get out. Viola! Catchy 1-hour premiere that sucks you in...interestingly progressive (no plodding nor wasting time with minor details and getting to know the characters backgrounds and mental state)...never boring...and you wrap the story up in 13-weeks another starts in the spring. Summertime series should be 10-weeks long. I would love to see CBS devote a primetime slot for this format: Sep-Nov 13-week Fall serial (rebroadcast it again in Dec-Jan they wish), Feb-April 13-week Spring serial, and Jun-Aug 10-week summer serial. I'm not sure this is a money-maker, but I like it.

So, a glorified Movie ?
IF you call three - six , two hours shows ,over a period of a month to 6 weeks a glorified movie, then yes.
Well, let's see how this one does before we drift off into the What Ifs. So when is this non-animated version of The Simpson's Movie scheduled to air? You gotta admit the premise for the series is similar, but perhaps Logan's Run or Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome is a better analogy. Anyway, I have never been a Stephen King fan...I don't find 90% of his writings to be entertaining, thrilling nor scary - likewise for Spielberg fiction; be should to making films like Lincoln, Letters from Iwo Jima, Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List. Okay, I did enjoy Goonies...but the other stuff was crap! Perhaps they can find a synergy working with each other...or perhaps the SVU/ER production crew can save this one. Another obvious problem is they are late to the table in the post-apocalyptic genre we're seeing on cable and now the broadcast networks. Many have already failed and few have succeeded. We shall see.
Logan's Run was one of my favorite movies when I was 14. LOVED the entire premise of the movie and Jenny Agutter( Jessica 6) back then . Especially when I got to see her boobs in the cave scene in the movie. I replayed that scene over and over in my early teenage fantasies.
CBS tried that a few years ago with Harper's Island. Ratings plunged as the show went on, so no one repeated it.
Would be nice if they would do more, Britain and Japan do that concept all the time.

If they are able to sell it worldwide they will be more inclined to order more episodes for the US.
