With 2012 coming to a close soon lets have a little fun.

Lets take nominations for what you think was the "biggest FTA story of 2012". Now it can be a channel coming or going, a new product on the market or really anything related to FTA.

Next week I'll take the nominations and have a poll of them :)

my nomination?
Honestly the Micro coming to the market and in alot of folks blowing away all competition. Having US based support helps too ;)

a 2nd nomination.....me temporarily getting out of the FTA game

losing the history channel on 101w was traumatic.

Getting COZI TV was a nice way to end the year. :)

I have to agree with both of these. I was watching the ball drop at midnight 12/31/11 slash 1/1/12, on 99W....when that was over I switched to 101W and watched maybe an hour of History and poof.

I agree losing history was the worst thing this year.

my list:

1). S2 came of age with more transmissions, plus great & inexpensive receivers
2). PLL KU LNBFs from two distributors
3). Massive feed encryption, hastened by too much publicity
4). 4DTV on life support all year

.

I'd have to say the MicroHD's arrival is one of the biggest happenings in fta 2012. Even though I don't own one yet, from reading the forums its evident that US fta fans were clearly eager and pleased to have it. Most everything else thrown our way has been European market stuff, with no real support for domestic US owners. Or boxes made for theft of services, where real fta features are just an afterthought.
And I agree, the beginning of what will likely be a trend forward, scrambling of more and more wildfeeds by the content owners. Loose lips eventually will sink ships.

The new Micro Hd was the plus for the year. Cozi and Cool Tv are a plus as well. Overall less channels. Less suppliers with stock. Less sponsors. Iceberg being sidelined for a bit is a bummer...prediction is his dish farm will make a comeback.

not the Microhd, but the work around it in that there is a huge thread on all of us adding input to its features before it was for sale. We were the biggest thing this year regarding the Microhd. I think we should be proud of that.
