In fta true the best channels are in Ku or C band? what you think? any recommendations? newbie here thanks! :D

CBAND - G16 G19

KUBAND - G17 SES2 AMC16 AMC6 AMC1 AMC15

Anywhere from Network programming to Sporting events feeds..

It's all relative, so make it easy on yourself

It's probably easier to get started on Ku band.
I would say 97w or maybe 125w.
As you get experience and learn what's on other satellites, maybe add a second dish.

By the time you decide to try a motor, it'll go a lot easier if you have a firm grasp of the fundamentals.

C-band is easier if you already have an understanding of dish setup, and motor operation.
If you insist on a BUD first, get 8' or 10'.
On that size dish, the dual band LNBFs can get by.
Though, C-only performs better.
That would compliment a Ku only motorized setup. :up

No discussion would be complete without mentioning fixed Ku dishes with several LNBFs.
Very few members have multiple fixed BUDs, but there are a handfull . ;)

.

I'd say C-band, after 2 days and nights of frequent rainstorms lol. It's hard to wash out a c-band signal!

For me c+ku the two are good. For over twenty years only I have Ota for Canadian and same usa channels. And free to air from 137 west to 50 west and 30 west and 15 west

Now I have a idea! your suggestions are great, many channels and many sats to begin my setup. thanks.

yep, best for me is: superstations, news, movies and sports, like everyone here, but my question was to where point my dish, Im newbie in true fta and only need a one direction, now I know where to find channels. thanks.

...best for me is: superstations, news, movies and sports...
On Ku, you'll find several English language 24/7 news channels from around the world. I like them. You'll also find lots of sports feeds. You won't find superstations or movies much on Ku, although I think 97W may have some mostly foreign language movies. Perhaps Ebru and KTV have English language movies. If you can do C-band, it's the better way to go overall.

I have a 10 foot fiberglass dish with actuator and I try c band sats this weekend, I need to move the dish of my parents house to my house 20 miles away, but worth the effort.

fiberglass_dish.jpg ahh, early years of C band, this dish give me lot a fun!!!
