Yup we are already getting ready for CES and so is DISH.

The Official DISH Press Event has now been announced and will take place on January 6th at 11am at Mandalay Bay, Level 3, South Seas Ballroom F. (Which I believe was the same place as last year) :)

Can't wait to see what they have for us for 2014! :D

?Of course SatelliteGuys will be there! :D

I don't think people understand the time, planning and money that goes into getting ready for a 30 minutes press conference. In the past few years the press releases for new products and announcements have come out before we have even awoken in Las Vegas, which in turn make what we report from the press conferences old news once we report it.

But the main reason I still go to CES every year is to get face time with many of the people I work with year around. Its the only time we get to talk face to face.

So I guess in the end, with the amount of time planing, expenses and travel time in the end its all worth it. :)

I can't imagine Dish coming out with anything big there. Maybe release Android Tablet support similar to the iPad. Another app, maybe?

I'd love to hear them announce a naming feature for EHDs.

I think they could really use some upgrades to their receivers....

A hopper with 5 or 6 tuners (so people wouldn't need to have multiple hoppers). Don't know if this is possible but do something similar to ptat but for all their channels on the same transponder. So for example put multiple espn channels on the same transponder and if I am recording something on one I don't lose a tuner to watch or record any others on that transponder. It really is very cool how you can do that with your local channels currently.

A tailgater system that could power 2 hdtv's or even a 722k that had dual hdmi outs (again for tailgating). This is one area where dish is way ahead of directv and they really should be pushing it more imo.

I would also like to see a dish anywhere app for windows so we can stop using that horrible website.

I am surprised they are going to CES.

Was it not at CES where the HWS got snubbed for the "best innovation award" (or whatever it was called)?

Well, I think there are really only two potential things that can be announced.

1) Dish announces they are buying AT&T
2) In sticking with their Aussie like trademarking, Dish announces their new Koala Dish. The first dish that can be installed in a tree and get reception.

This year's winner has been pre-announced: The "All Commercials, All the Time" channel, with free sets given out, so long as you buy a certain minimum each month. Of course, the set only receives one channel......

Is this what you're looking for when you talk about tailgating? http://www.winegard.com/anser/index.php

Does that Anser let you pick 61.5, 72.7, 110, 119 or 129? Or does it automatically reaim when you need to switch satellites? Or you're stuck with just one satellite? It really sounds like the latter. In fact, taken literally, you only get 72.7.

"...a key advantage over other automatic antennas that toggle between 3 satellites to receive DISH programming." Doesn't sound like an advantage to me.

New model HWS-K (Hopper with Sling plus the kitchen sink)

How about a node that only needs ONE line from the Dish instead of two so we installers can do what Direct does and use just one line as used with swm. Also how about a Hopper/sling that does more than 3 tuners not to mention make it so we can connect Joeys to the Hoppers over internal hopper wireless?? So many small tasks to make the life of customers and techs easier it isn't even funny! I know you can already do a Joey wireless but you have to use customers wireless router thru-put so not what I'm suggesting.

Last, make it so you only need 119 or 110 to download to the hopper as some people just don't need or want HD so if you can't aim to the 72.7 or 129 then at least get them something.

OK, found the PDFs. Looks like it can be forced to any Dish satellite, but that requires a Check Switch if you change satellites (& when you first set up),

It will cycle between satellites it finds. When it's on the one you want, you disconnect the power.

Seems to be a lot of tradeoffs.

Hmph- this is my 24,000th post. 1,000 more and Bobby cuts me off!

With the Genie and Comcast X1 both having 5 tuners, I can't see how Dish would release another 3 tuner Hopper.
