Minimum Signal Strength(110/119 Sat)

I am having lots of signal losses. I have called DN to realign my dish antennas.
My actual signal strength is low ranging from 20 to 65.
Can someone advise what should be the minimum acceptable signal strength,
and what transponders should be used to monitor ???

use TP 11 & 12

I see you're in PR so it may be different depending on dish size, but normal should be 90 or above

As an example for me, on 119
11-112
12-106

Appreciate you quick response .
PR uses a bigger dish ( 48" dia.) however I would expect signal strength to be the same. Can you tell what tansponders should be used to monitor strength ??

ok...just wanted to make sure...then the signals should be the same

use transponders 11 & 12

Hiopefully someone from PR can chime in with their signal strengths (and dish size)

The greatest problem with a weak signal is not having enough headroom should the signal drop more to due to weather, etc. I would say anything less than 70 is bordering on too low.

As I recall it should never be below the 80's under good weather conditions for 119 and 110 at least that is what I was told at Team Summit when I became an installer in 1999.

remember gfolks, he is in Puerto Rico, where they need a larger dish.

You need about a 50 signal to get a signal so rain fade does hurt the signal.

I was seeing on 119 a signal of about 80, and on 110 (with a strapped on lnb on the 119 24" dish) about a 48-71 (different transponders)

I looked at the line of site, saw a small branch with about 9 leaves on it way up. Got out my trusty hacksaw, cut it down.

119 stayed the same, but 110 went to 76-105 from 48-71

Amazing what 9 leaves will do!

LNB Selection

Living in an area where signal is 70 at best, I am looking at every opportunity
to improve reception stability. I was wondering if replacing LNB's by a higher
quality will have a significant impact on reception !!!!

I have a couple of Eagle Aspen DTV32+'s. Any recommendations ????

Most DBS LNB's are the same. (if I'm not mistaken)

except for DPP Twins. they are not as accurate at peaking.
