The audio on my roku3 sometimes is deeper or higher pitched than it should be. Unplugging it to restart it usually works but doing that is a pain in the butt.

Do you have it connected by Wi Fi, or wired? Mine didn't work very well connected via wireless but hard wired it's fine. Especially if you have a lot of other traffic on your network then wired might be better, if you have it hooked up via wireless now.

In the settings tab on the Roku 3 there's two choices for audio, stereo and surround sound, maybe try changing that. Mine's set to stereo. there's also a setting for sound effects volume in there, I changed that cause on ours the sound effects were too loud! I have that set on medium.

If you have a cable, maybe try hooking it up temporarily with that and see if it straightens out. If it does go away, then you'd know. If it doesn't...probably something else.

Is it connected directly to your TV or going thru an A/V receiver to the TV?

If connecting directly to a TV, set Roku Stereo. An A/V receiver should be able to do both Stereo and Surround. I would try connecting it to another TV and see if it still does it...

Try a different brand HDMI cable.

Every now and then this issue still pops up. I'm skeptical that deleting and reinstalling a channel would solve the problem because if it is happening on Netflix it is also happening on Plex and vice versa until I unplug the unit and reboot it.

I let them know others had the same issue and here is how they replied:

* Please press the following key sequence on your Roku remote. This will pop a bit rate screen on the TV
Home button (house symbol which is on the top) - 5 times
Rewind button (<< which is left side to the play button) - 3 times
Forward button (>> which is right side to the play button) - 2 times
* Once you get the bit rate screen, use the Remote to Select 3.5 Mbps and press OK
* Press the home button on your Roku remote and check for the presence of issue
