TV Technology is reporting the following...

SANTA MONICA, CALIF.—LG is selling OLED 4KTVs in the United States.
LG Electronics USA chose Southern California as the consumer launch pad for its new 65-inch class (64.5 inches measured diagonally) 4K OLED TV. LG teamed up with retailer Video & Audio Center to introduce OLED TVs to the U.S. consumer market “for the first time at a VIP in-store event attended by hundreds of customers last night in Santa Monica. Now available for sale at Video & Audio Center at $9,999, the 65EC9700 will be available nationwide later this month.”

I am really excited to see first 4K OLED TV sets hitting the stores! It means that finally manufacturers are getting reasonable OLED yields. Great news!

And I wouldn't worry about those initial prices, unless you just have to get one of those beauties this year! ;)
The prices will fall very quickly: the first 55" 1080p LG OLED TV last year was priced at $15,000 and a similar LG OLED model this year goes for under $3,500. That's a huge price drop in just one year!

9999 of course is the MSRP, it will probably be quite a bit less in a few months. Still not in mass market range, but in a couple years I would love to upgrade to one.

I saw one 2 weeks ago, 55" LG OLED TV at Best Buy and it was really nice, extremely thin, curved but it was not a 4K, but picture was just as good in my opinion!

If they can make it flat and 60", I'll seriously think about it. In a few years.

I saw the LG at h.h.gregg the other day with a curved screen. I don't get the appeal of a curved screen, especially in an OLED screen where it has a full 180? viewing angle. I can see in LCD where the view angle can change enough to affect the contrast and or color rendition, but I'm not buying it. Literally.

Step in the right direction. As sad as I am to see Plasma go, I just hope we get a top quality 65"+ OLED set in the $3,500 range soon! Also agree no no curve. I don't see how that is going to work in most applications. After getting everyone to hang their panels on the wall the last thing they want is a curved screen sticking out of the wall.
