Hi,
I bought my unit about 2 months ago. It has worked well except for the following 2 issues.
1) I have to turn my Panasonic TV on first and the microHD next otherwise the microHD freezes and reboots after a minute or so. It's like pressing "pause" and there is nothing I can do but wait. The unit does not respond to the remote at all during that time. Then after the restart it's all fine. I've tried disabling the HDMI pin 13 and pin 19 by bending them back as I suspected a CEC communication problem but that did not solve the issue. I've had this issue from the start.
2) Now the big new issue: only the green light turns on. No picture at all with the HDMI or AV out. The remote can't turn it back off. I've tried unplugging and replugging several times: nothing. I left it unplugged for several hours. Anything I can try or I should start looking for a box to ship it back?

I don't have one of those receivers, but my first try would be to get a different hdmi cable, just to see if that might be a problem. I think there are a universe of hdmi-cable makers, and some of them aren't really up to standards. Also, did you try googling your Panny tv's model number to see if that particular tv has a reputation for being hard to 'communicate' with, using peripheral devices?

I've tried 3 different HDMI cables to fix issue #1, to no avail. Issue #2 is something else: I've disconnected all the cables (even the coax), using only the AV out (rca output). The microHD is "dead." No sign of life at all except for the green led that turns on when I plug the AC|DC adapter. Last evening it was operational, and I left it on alone for a couple of hours. When I turned my attention back to it the microHD was frozen as described in issue #1. I unplugged the AC|DC adapter as I could not turn it off by the remote. It's been "dead" since.

Welcome to SatGuys, Nezdepain!

Do you have another TV that you could hook the Micro up to and see if you have the same problem? What model # is your Panasonic TV? If you get the Micro up and running again, check what firmware ver. it's running on.

Try turning on the TV without the HDMI cable from the Micro connected to it and then turn on the Micro, wait a minute or so and plug the HDMI cable into the TV and see if it works. Check if your TV has a setting in the menus to automatically turn on connected peripherals on the HDMI ports, if it does, shut that option off and try it.

Far out in left field, but a compact fluorescent light that I had in my living room made my Micro lock up now and then and the remote wouldn't work up close to the unit at all until I replaced that light with an LED one.

Hi A Raine,
This is the info I saved a few weeks ago :

Boot loader 2010-5-8
Main code M3601s/128M 2014-4-25
Software version : TDV10290-1-0-2-0
Product version : HDVS54012-1211457A0 2014-4-25

I've tried connecting the microHD to another TV (with the RCA output, I don't have another TV with an HDMI input). On a normal power on, the microHD green light turns on and you have to wait about ten(?) seconds before it gets to the blue "boot" screen and then it switches to the channel it was on when it was last powered off. The led on the front panel switches from green to red and back to green during a normal boot. Now I don't even see the "boot" screen, no matter how I connect it.
I'll try what you suggest (turning the TV without the HDMI cable).

I have a microHD and have experienced a problem with similar symptoms as yours. As best I can tell, the unit was set to a satellite/transponder that it couldn't deal with (and crashed). After much frustration and a few hours I 'cured' it by doing the following:
1) Unplugged the power from the microHD
2) Disconnected the sat-in cable from the microHD
3) Plugged the power cord back in
4) Turned on the microHD and it booted OK
5) Went into the 'Settings' - 'TV System' menu and changed the 'Video Resolution' setting to 'By Source'
6) Tuned to a different satellite and channel than the one it was 'stuck' on
7) Turned off the power
8) Reconnected the sat-in cable
9) Powered on and got a picture!

Not sure if this is the same problem you are having, but it got my unit back up and working. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your proposing your solution, but I have tried this before and I cannot make the microhd to boot at all and get to a menu.
I am thinking of opening the device and try to use a USB-TTL cable to update the firmware as I've seen on another thread ("microHD First Aid Serial Update via Internal TTL"). Apparently attempting this does not void the warranty...My Linux system seems to run the Ali Editor properly, my next step is to get the right cable.

Before the problem I described in my previous post here with video resolution and my TV, I had to make the USB-TTL cable when my microHD went into the infamous boot loop. I made my own cable because I was too impatient to wait for one to arrive in the mail. Fortunately it worked.

From your description of what you are seeing, I am not sure if your microHD is doing the boot loop. But it might be worth a try with the cable. I have the connector wiring information if you build your own and need it. Just let me know.

PLease let me know how to build your cable, I'd appreciate. I have looked into buying a USB to RS232 TTL PL2303HX Cable (it's that the right cable?) or order the more expensive one from GotCBand that is designed for that purpose. I have an old PC with a serial port, I wonder if I can use that port instead of a USB device

I think that is the latest firmware, so isn't an old firmware problem. If it's boot-looped the lights on the front usually flash green, red, over and over, [unit keeps re-booting] not sure if that's the problem with yours or not, but there's a good chance that re-flashing through the TTL will fix it. Here's a couple of threads with info on the Micro boot-loop problem:

This is the cable that I used to fix mine when I boot-looped it:
Amazon product ASIN B00F167PWE
Member Ke4est here on SatelliteGuys also sells a cable with drivers on Ebay:

His cable is the safest and surest way to go, the cheap cables like I'd bought aren't always the best quality and come with no drivers. I made a cable before I'd ordered one but It was hell finding a driver to work with it in Vista, much easier to just buy one. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, been very busy lately! I think any files you will need are posted within the threads that I posted links for but I have them all somewhere if you do end up needing something.

It took me a while, but I finally found the cable that I used to get my microHD working after it went into a reboot loop.

I started with a ham radio programming cable for the USB side. It contains a PL2303HX chip on a small circuit board with a USB connector (shown in first photo below). For the end that attaches onto the microHD circuit board I used a 4 pin connector from my parts bin. (I think I got it from an old cordless phone). I soldered the wires to the 4 pin connector as shown in the second photo below (which also shows the microHD circuit board).

The wiring of the 4-pin connector as shown attached to the circuit board in the second photo is as follows:

Ground (black), Power (red), TX (green), and RX (white).

If you don't already have the parts, you can adapt other USB to serial TTL cables for use with a 4 pin connector. Or if you would like I will loan you mine. (Just PM me with your address and mail the cable back to me when done).

When the Micro HD first came out I used the Ali editor with Windows 8 and it caused the Micro to go into endless boot mode. It was fine when editing with Win 7 or Vista. I'm guessing that you've edited using Linux before? If not maybe there is an
issue with the editor and whatever version of Linux you're using. Just tossing out random thoughts here. I'm not a Linux user but thought I'd pass along my Windows experience with the editor.

O
I am all out of them, but Dave has a few left. After that, that will be all. If you wait til Friday you can get one for $10 bucks. http://store.gotcband.com/#!/Black-Friday/c/11436224 :)
Ordered this cable from gotcband, but I can't get it to work with Windows 8.1. Apparently needs a driver. Came with no instructions or driver. Anyone know what I need to get it working? THANKS!

This cable will not work with 8.1. Do you have anything with 7 or older?

I was just pondering the same thing, seems I tried that but it has been awhile. Doesn't hurt to try.

SatelliteAV, how about making the firmware for the MicroHD 'open source'? I know that there are developers out there who could fix this 'boot loop' problem. And there are numerous other cool features that could be added to this outstanding hardware.
