KWQC-TV6 is offering a new entertainment option for the viewing area. Starting Sun., Nov. 1, our 6.2 sub-channel will switch from 24/7 weather to the ION Network.

The general entertainment network features hit shows from the award-winning, critically acclaimed libraries of CBS Television, NBC Universal, Sony Pictures Television, Twentieth Television, and Warner Bros., among others. The current line-up includes shows like Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, Blue Bloods, Flashpoint, and other hit procedural dramas. Upcoming movies include Hitman, Point Break, and Man on Fire.

From Northpine

Media General's KWQC-TV (Davenport) says it'll begin carrying Ion TV on channel 6.2 on Nov. 1, displacing a local weather channel. The station is a primary NBC affiliate and also carries Cozi TV on channel 6.3. KWQC appears to be only the second station nationwide to carry Ion on a subchannel, and one of only a few Ion affiliates that isn't owned and operated by the network. Ion carries reruns of recent network shows.

also WKRG Mobile AL doing the same

A message about some changes planned for WKRG-TV's digital sub-channel for broadcasting weather information (including maps, text, and instructional programs) began appearing on the channel on a frequent basis recently ("Weather information on this digital channel 5.2 will be permanently replaced by ION TV this weekend.

Must be nice, good for KWQC/WKRG too, but the rest of us (KLFY, WRIC, WATE, WBAY, WTEN, WLNS, WKRN) still have a blank space on the .2 or .3 from the LWN shutdown. If they can add to their OTHER stations why in the f-word can't they add to the rest of us, we're part of their media group as well......See why I get pissed off....this is B.S. 5 months now......

couple more stations adding Ion as a sub (in SD)

WLFI Lafayette, IN ...will be on 18-3 (formerly CoolTV when LIN was the owner). WLFI is the only station in the Lafayette market (with a badass outdoor antenna you can get some of Indy)
WANE Ft Wayne, IN...replacing a weather station

Both are now MG former Lin stations

Ion isn't that bad of a channel for what it is. Back in the analog days, we had a Pax, UPN, TBN, and WB and Fox were together. WWBI (Pax), WGMU (UPN), and W16AL (TBN) were low power and never made it. WFFF Fox/WB came to be when I was in high school. WGMU's pathetic sister station WNMN came to digital and is Retro. LP in the mountains = waste. After WFFF went HD, we had Fox and WB in HD. Then WB/CW went to a subchannel and never again in HD after Nexstar didn't have time for their subchannel and moved to another subchannel.

I have often wondered why the established locals didn't try to add ion or a My as a sub to fill in what we used to have. We now have 7 PBS related channels thanks to subchannels. Stupid Nexstar. The Vermont locals have pretty bad PQ already so adding a subchannel won't hurt. Can't destroy something that isn't there.

Rant over.

Hum....i see whats going on now. The last 6 stations Media added Cozi/Ion to were at one point part of Lin Media. While I'm playing its not fair role, I guess sometime in the future Media will add something to the 6(or what doesn't have an agreement) of stations that are silent/dark from LWN. I hate the sit and wait, but eventually something will come on

couple more per Rabbitears

WJBF Augusta, GA
WRIC Richmond, VA (actually its color bars according to someone.)

Well so much for the Cozi deal that was flying around. Well its a start. Noticed today KLFY 10.2 was taken off completely on rabbit ears. The screen text that's been on still on 10.2, and the decades removed off WBAY. Ion, Decades, or Cozi is fine with me.. Like I said in another post I take all diginets even though they are boring. We'll see what transpires in the future.

Alot of markets have ThisTV and AntennaTV on the same subchannel as a MNTV with the MNTV only showing from 6-9. A MNTV 24 hour is about as bad as the smell of a rotten egg. You could get lucky like me our fox affiliate KADN has fox, nbc, amd mntv on the same transmitter tower. Cant beat it so wonderful then Nexstar says they will put a newsteam on the NBC station (the nbc is actually lp KLAF 46.1). So you have drama queen b.s. on all 3 channels. I call it Acadiana's Block of Drama. Nexstar wont subchannel and they own half the stations in Louisiana outside the New Orleans market. Some very sick people. Anyone says other media groups are worse need to be tested for something. Media General I'll leave alone, they add subchannels but it takes awhile, Anyway back to the subject, I hope you get an ion or a comet tv in your area later on.

WBAY removed 2-3 after LiveWell dropped off. IT wasn't a slate screen or nothing. Just 2-1 & 2-2. I posted a screen grab a couple months ago when I picked it up while TV DX'ing ;)

outside of the 2 hour My programming the rest is locally done (as in syndicated shows). So each area is different.
Minneapolis as example puts a few of the shows syndicated on FOX on My (since they are co-owned)

Weekends they have some decent syndicated shows and movies. But its mainly just paid programs ;)

I agree. My 38 Boston is a great channel. ACC Network in HD, Phantom Gourmet, good 10pm news from CBS Boston, good syndicated shows. Yeah, daytime isn't that good, but that's the norm for locals.

interesting that the page is now pulled from the KWQC site

the My Network in Duluth has all the UMD football amd hockey home games and a bunch of prep sports too. Its not too bad but frustrating that it isnt in HD. Its a sub on NBC and now CBS will be moving there too (with the Quincy/Granite sale)

I remember getting WGMU on free to air when Equity owned them :)

I am so glad that Directv arranged the RSN's with dedicated subchannels a while back so that the hockey on FS North is easier to to find. Independent WBIN in NH shows the local hockey that's only SD on Fox College Sports so there's another reason to "move" to that DMA. For me, another perk is NH PBS. They seem to air a lot more than other local PBS affiliates in what sounds like real DD 5.1 but my DMA only has it in SD. Both VT PBS in HD are 2.0 which is annoying. The Boston PBS and WCFE are just stereo/pro logic.

Slightly more on topic... Boston ion WBPX is the only local not in HD on Directv. I wonder why. Cable locally (between Burlington and St. Albans VT) carries ion WPXG Concord NH, but also only SD. They carry qubo and ion life, too, but in a higher package than just the basic broadcast.

I think it has to do with Directv carrying the National feed in HD

Comcast locally doesnt carry them (even thought KPXM is in the market) but Mediacom (which is in the outer outer suburbs) does carry both in lifeline.

I wonder if this was why WANE had originally planned to drop Antenna TV (to add Ion) but after the viewer complaints about losing Antenna TV, they must have decided to drop their Weather channel instead. And someone else in another thread suggests Justice TV might be coming to WANE - so who knows, maybe they will still lose Antenna TV.
