Instant Premium Channel Ordering Coming May 11th

Beginning on May 11th DIRECTV customers will be able to add premium channels to their accounts by just using their remote.

The new feature is called "Instant Premium Ordering via Remote" or "IPOR" for short.

In order for this to work the customers system needs to be hooked up to broadband.
The channels you will be able to add by using your remote include HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and Starz.

I'm using a HR44 and the CE software and have not seen this on it yet.

Of course you can already order the premium channel by texting or going online or calling ... I haven't done it as I don't add the Movie channels, but that info has been on any Movie channel that you don't sub to for a long time now.

I hope that isn't our new interface. This isn't Netflix. The see-through flashy garbage is stupid and cluttered. Also, this seems to be another useless feature that will break something somewhere in the fragile software of our receivers. More HD channels, please. Less flashy garbage.

We already have instant ordering. It's called the website. And, as noted by someone else, no deals this way!

How about "Instant Premium Cancellation" as well? Always a little annoyed that I could easily add one on the website, but had to call to cancel. Yes, I know they want to talk me out of it ...

Totally agree. I hate the fact that they make us call to cancel. It's usually at least a 10 to 15 minute ordeal.
