HOPPER 3 UPGRADE WAITING LIST!

Would like to upgrade but have many issues.

Current set up: Original Hopper, H2 and three Joeys.

Original Hopper (leased) with many, many timers set up and several recordings I would not like to lose. I understand that I have to save the recordings to my EHD - no problem. I understand that the timers will be saved to the remote and that I can use the existing remote to work with the new H3.

Second Hopper is H2 (sling) I own this Hopper. I would like to keep this as I believe in redundancy, especially with new equipment. If the H3 goes down I can fall back on the H2. Also - what am I to do with the H2 that I own - is there a plan in place for a rebate?

The H2 also has many timers set ( I also believe in load-balancing) and separate recordings saved. The recordings can be saved to another EHD that I have for the H2 - no problem. My question is on the timers I have saved on the H2 remote. How is this going to work? Can I use two remotes for the H3 each with different timers saved? Or can all the timers (original Hopper and H2) be combined on the new remote for the H3?

I know this is very confusing. This is why I did not jump on the bandwagon to upgrade and waited so long. It would be so easy if I can keep my H2 and get a new H3 to replace the original Hopper. If this is going to be possible in the near future I would easily wait.

Concerning the Joeys. I understand that they would need to be upgraded also. I will need 4 ( I have three now and if I cannot keep the H2 it will need a Joey. The Joeys need not be 4K - only the H3 will need 4K. Here is my question: One will be used but the other three are RARELY used. Can any of them be shared?

My thanks to any DIRT member who takes this on, I appreciate your efforts in advance. I am a long time (10+ years) Dish customer.

Interested in upgrading my two (2) leased original Hoppers and one (1) original Joey to one (1) new Hopper-3 and two (2) new Joey's. I'm out of contract (14 year customer) and want to know what my out of pocket cost will be and if I can do this without signing a new contract?

I would like to upgrade to Hopper 3. I am being told that my location is not suitable for hopper 3 yet.. but People near me have it.
I am thinking that it is just a computer glitch..
I would be willing to pay for a site visit - for relocation of my current dish and the guy can verify that my location is fine for Hopper 3.. And if he can bring in one Hopper 3 and two 4k Joes, he can upgrade my system..
How do I go about getting this done?
DIRT members - can you please contact me?
thanks

If you have a good local DISH retailer you should call them first.

Interested in upgrading to hopper 3,currently have an original hopper and original joey. I have a couple questions about upgrading though before doing it.

1) I have an external hard drive and just wanted to make sure my recordings would still work after the upgrade.

2) Can I keep the same joey I have or does that need upgraded also?

3) Does a tech need to come out to install the new hopper 3 or is it something I can do myself and just send the old hopper back.(Have a crazy schedule and im hardly ever home during usual business hours)

4) How much does the upgrade cost? I paid nothing originally for the install or devices and have been out of contract for a couple years now.(Both hopper & joey are leased)

5) I have almost 200 timers set on my hopper and was wondering if there was a way to transfer those over.(No big deal if it cant be done)

Any help from a DIRT team member would be greatly appreciated!

^^^ I'm upgrading from a ViP to a Hopper 3 on May 6th.

3. A tech has to come out for the install in my case. They charge $95 for the truck roll but is only $10 for me since I have the $8 a month Dish Protection Plan.

4. I was charged $150 for the Hopper 3, $10 for the install, and $4 and change for the tax, I guess. I was charged $164 during my conversation with Dish.

I'm going to box up my two ViP receivers and let the tech take them after my install is done. That's worth the $10 for the convenience of not having to go through sending them back.

Could a DIRT team member please contact me about upgrading to a Hopper 3 with (3) 4k Joeys? I currently have a 722 and 211 and out of contract.

Thanks in advance,

Thank you for your interest in the Hopper 3 and (3) 4K Joeys. Please read through the initial disclosures and information. Please note only one Hopper 3 is allowed per account and the Hopper 3 cannot be used with Hopper 2000, Hopper with Sling, Super Joey, or Virtual Joey.

The following are the disclosures for upgrading to the Hopper 3. Please note that DIRT can only upgrade your equipment if there is a credit card on file. Using a new card or not having a card on file will require you to call or chat in. DIRT members do not make outbound phone calls.

“By providing this credit/debit card to qualify, you authorize DISH to automatically charge or debit your card for the cost of any unreturned equipment charges and cancellation fees when applicable.

In order to verify your credit/debit card, a temporary $1 hold will be placed on the card. Most Banks will remove this in 3-4 business days.

You will lose all your current timers and recordings on your receiver.

You have elected to participate in the Change Receiver Program which requires a new 24 month agreement. If you break your commitment you will be charged an early termination fee of $20 for each month remaining in your commitment to the card used to qualify.

Because all equipment is leased to you, BUT owned by DISH, it must be returned to us within thirty days of a cancellation or you will be charged an equipment fee ranging from $49 to $349 per receiver. This fee will be charged to the card used to qualify.

If you do not pay your bill and your account is disconnected, the equipment fee will be charged immediately. Any equipment fees will be refunded if you return your equipment.

Please note that following activation of your Hopper/Joey system, if you choose to return your previous receiver model setup or change to different receiver line, you will likely incur additional charges to do so as result of DISH’s substantial costs and equipment expenses associated with any such reinstallation.
Hopper 3 has sixteen tuners, which allows you to record up to sixteen channels at the same time. You will also have AutoHop, which allows you to automatically skip commercials in select shows recorded as part of PrimeTime Anytime.
If equipment is leased: The receiver you have is owned by us, after installation of your new receiver the service technician will deactivate and take the receiver that is being replaced.

If equipment is purchased: The receiver you have chosen to replace is not required to be returned to DISH.
Your technician is scheduled to arrive anytime between 8am-12pm / 12-5pm, and the majority of appointments will take 2 to 4 hours to complete. DISH will call you the day of the appointment to provide you with a better estimate. Someone over 18 years of age must be present during the technician visit.

With our My Tech feature, you will have the ability to view more appointment details on your mobile device or desktop.

An hour before your estimated arrival window, you can see your technician’s name and photo in My Appointments on mydish.com.

When the technician is en route to you, an interactive map and countdown to arrival will appear so you can plan when you need to be home.”

By commenting on this thread, you are stating that you wish to upgrade to the Hopper 3 and agree to these disclosures. Upgrades will be handled in the order they were received. (if we are posting publicly)

By replying to this Private Message, you are stating that you wish to continue with an upgrade to the Hopper 3 and agree to these disclosures. (if using a first PM)

May I please have your account/phone number, four digit pin, number of TVs, and how many of those are 4K TVs?

For immediate assistance please call 1-800-333-3474 or use our chat feature.

You can also reach a DIRT member on our Facebook or Twitter page, however, please do not request an upgrade on both Satellite Guys and our Social Media pages if you are looking for an upgrade.

We are moving and the new house will be getting a 4k tv, interested in upgrading to the hopper 3 and adding a 4k joey. I had already setup the install and regular joey, but figured since I have to have a tech come out anyways now would be a good time to switch to the hopper 3.
