Sony XBR75X940C

When I had my shop, I did. Never had an issue. They would send the replacements directly to me, I would swap them, and send the broken set back.

Well, Sony has finally released a new firmware. Hopefully the updated version corrects all of the issues with services stopping, reboots, etc. that were introduced with the December roll-out.

My Bravia started acting flakey about that same time. I always thought it was my u-Verse Internet, glad it wasn't just me. Until it works for a year straight I won't consider it fixed!

Not you. The MM update that rolled out in December was buggy has heck. Services stopped working, random reboots, etc. Hopefully 6.0.1 is stable. We'll see. So far no issues (knock on wood).

So far so good (knock on wood). Seems that there might have been some other video tweaks in the update. Picture looks cleaner and the colors seem more vivid. Unfortunately I won't be able to measure anything for a while.

Its pretty cool to see they are pumping out FW updates this late in the life cycle.
They had to after the mess the first MM update created, or they might have been faced with a class action suit. It was bad. Constant services stopping, reboots, no signal messages while watching something. The list goes on.

Thing is, never a single issue prior to the MM update. Hopefully all good now. Keep knocking on wood :)

I figure this thread is relative, and will post my updates and impressions here. Just ordered a X940E 75" after a few weeks of hand wringing over it and OLED , should be here Aug 1. Going from 65" to 75", at 9 feet should be impressive, largest display I will have ever owned. Mid screen will be right at eye level and we sit straight out, so view angle should not be an issue.

Hopefully Sony sends that DV update out.

I was unaware of enhanced delivery, but I opted to order this thru Amazon with the return policy. To avoid tax I used Electronic Express (Sony dealer) which is actually stored and fulfilled by Amazons warehouse. On certain displays, you get enhanced delivery as long as it is from Amazon direct or fulfilled by Amazon.

I got my info from Pilot Freight this morning, and it shows Home Electronics Enhanced, which means they bring it in, unpack it and place on its pedestal, and test power. They will also remove the old box, which is going to make life much easier.

I love that wire management on back. Hid everything, set this DVR up on HDMI 2 and the X800 on HDMI 3.

Using Cinemapro with much of the generic settings, left it at Contrast 90 and Brightness 25, but 25 may still be too bright for me.

Smoothness 3, Clearness Min does look pretty nice on Direct TV. Odd adjustment being able to see nice motion without artifacts (Like LG OLED). This 75" is def way more in your face than the 65, and us sitting out directly from it (9.5ft) and eye level with mid screen is PERFECT.

When I first fired it up, it looked kinda bad and I was like oh man, blew Direct up too much, but then once I turned off Reality Creation it stopped. Am using Smooth Gradation Low.

Testament to the Sony chip making Directv look this good at 75".

I don't know if the latest firmware is being phased, but I had to download the latest firmware update. My display kept saying up to date. I'll play with it more tonight.
