I have had a GeosatproHDVR3500 for a while - and it has gone unused for the past year or so. Just trying to set it up with my motorized dish - and somehow the values for the Longitude and Latitude were switched. I keep changing them under Positioner Setting - and the unit changes them back wheh I exit. How do I access the set-up instructions to tell the receiver the Longitude, Latitude, and the fact that I was USALS and a 9750/10600 Universal LNB set up for each satellite? THanks for any help you can provide.

OOps - I think that answered my own question. After resetting the Longitude and Latitude, I then clocked the Goto Position and the Global Resync buttons - and then it did remember the changes.

ANd now a similar question. To tweak a satellite aim, I switch to DiSEqC 1,2 (from USALS) - and with a small change, bring improve the reception. However, after Save and Exit, the system reverts back to the previous USALS setting. How can I request that that satellite use the DiSEqC 1.2 setting?

Ron,
The best way for the receiver to "remember" the settings is to scan an active transponder. Because technically, database is the channel list. So if you scan active transponder the channel gets "saved" into database and it's there permanently.

Many tests that hobbyists run do not end up in permanent settings and shouldn't until you clicked Yes on "do you want to save settings"

Hope this helped.

If you find you are consistently tweaking in the same direction you might be better of by adjusting your longitude setting instead. For instance, if your longitude is, let's say, 75.7 you might want to change it to 75.6 or 75.8 depending on which direction you need to tweak it.

Any new firmware updates coming for the HDVR3500? Haven't seen anything new all summer. Thanks.

We have gone through several internal updates.
I will post one tomorrow.

New features are ability to add iptv channel using remote, stability with switches and motors, better recording and playback.

I have not yet approved this for public, but please download directly from our server http://hdvrbox.com/up/fta/beta/usb_update.bin
Minor issue is being addressed on this version, but fully functional. This version was custom ordered to startup in IPTV mode.
The public version will be with Satellite Mode as default.

Please, test and report on performance/issues.

Thank you
Eugene

I've now installed this beta version. Please provide link to public version when available. I'd rather it boot directly into Sat Mode. Thanks again. Chad

Today I recorded to external drive a 3hr .ts file using this firmware. Played back looked just fine. Attempted to rename the file to keep on the hard drive and the file became unreadable after the rename. No longer a .ts file. Will no longer play after rename attempt.

You have to rename both the .ts and .idx (index) file. Index file is the one that tells the receiver which file to play

Best practice is to have both files renamed. Make sure your browser is set to see system and hidden files.

Let me know if you were able to fix file name.

I was attempting to edit/rename the file using the GeoSat 3500. I never remove the hard drive(via usb) from the rear port of the 3500. I can't do anything to the file I tried to rename. I was going to plug it into my computer just to see if the file is still there. The file won't play now on the 3500.

I plugged the hard drive into my computer and here is what the 3500 had done to the file when I renamed the recording. It made a folder called Lions(which is what I was going to rename it) and when I open the folder called "Lions" on my computer it contains the recording, but was not playable from the 3500 when I try to click on Lions. This has never done this before as you can see I've renamed recordings before using the 3500 to rename.

Note: The drive is called Linkbox 8000 because that is the receiver I had before I got the 3500

Its seems that every 41 minutes the HDVR3500 stores 4 GB of recording. Thats about 6 GB per hour! If its recording the entire mux, it would be more space efficient to filter the stream and store only the program being recorded.

What was the recorded content?

I believe the issue is in the renaming of the recording there was an interruption that did not complete the renaming. If you correct the file extensions to .TS and appropriately name the files, you can play them from the Media option. Media option will show the .TS files properly on HDVR3500.

The Public file has been approved.

New approved firmware version for GEOSATpro HDVR3500 is 1372 - September 29, 2016 - http://hdvrbox.com/up/fta/usb_update.bin

Updated features of Firmware version 1372:

1. Ability to add IPTV stream using a remote.
2. Ability to select that added stream as first channel when IPTV is selected.
3. Removed default channel list that includes G19 channels - We have asked many of our FTA customers and they do not care about start up channels - if anyone needs them from G19 - they can activate receiver in Glorystar mode and then revert back. So no more "unremovable" channels on FTA mode.
4. Improved Audio streams on IPTV
5. Improved Closed Captioning on IPTV
6. Put ground work for anyone to launch and operate their own IPTV channel - we will be updating on this later

Pending features / updates:

1. Multi-satellite scan
2. CC fix for Composite
3. OS X connectivity - we had some success but not consistent connectivity from Macs to HDVR share.

I was using the Firmware version 1364 and I was getting a solid lock on some Cband HD channels that are on 97W. After updating to Firmware version 1372 those same HD channels were unstable and blocky or would show "No signal" message. I reinstalled the 1364 Firmware version and the same HD channels locked solid and clear again. Could be sun or atmospheric conditions that happened just at the right time to cause the difference but I don't think so. For now I will just accept the IPTV boot up so that I get the good lock on those HD channels. Firmware version 1314 was iffy just like 1372 when locking and receiving these channels. Seems to be something different about 1364 on my system that picks those channels up better. Just something to note if anyone else encounters the same situation.

What satellite and transponder were you dealing with?
