Samsung reveals Android N will be version 7.0

Five months after Google began its rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the company unexpectedlyreleased its first developer preview of the next major version of the OS a few weeks ago. It's currently known only as the Android 'N' release - but Samsung has apparently now revealed its version number.

Release notes for Samsung's MultiWindow SDK 1.3.1 state that "this version has been released with Android N(7.0) compatibility", which seems to confirm that the N release will eventually become more widely known as Android 7.0.

However, there's still no indication of which sweet, tasty treat the new version will be named after. Android N is referred to internally as 'New York Cheesecake', but the pre-release nickname for each new Android version always differs from the name that is chosen for its eventual launch.

I'm excited for the S8. The leaked views of the near bezel-less design look awesome AND it if the rumored dimensions are true, will keep the overall size of the phone down around where I want to stay. Not to mention it apparently adding stereo speakers, which I've missed since my old HTC M7 days.

Yeah can't wait to see what they do supposedly they will not be showing it at Mobile World Congress but we will see and they supposedly they might have the Note 8 ready to go as well.

Continues to sound exciting for sure! Have to admit, though, that's a lot of talk about 4K for a device that I thought most recent S8 speculation had moved away from it coming with a 4K display. I think it would be cool to have a 4K capable device that could run at standard QHD to save battery, but allow you to switch 4K on when desired for VR and such.
