Hi everyone,
I will be switching from Dish Network to Direct TV today. My question is, will the Direct TV installers install the dish, cables in the rain? It will be raining here in Chicago all day and was hoping to get my new service today, but with the rain, they may have to reschedule, right??
Thanks for the info!

I would hope, that they are smart enough to keep from installing anything in the rain Scott...

OSHA would really have a ball writing up the Company that would permit their people to install in dangerous conditions or places. The cost could be well over $10,000.00 for that kind of violation..

Usually an installer will reschedule, if there exists any conditions which are dangerous to the installer (lightning) or a condition exists which would adversly affect signal quality (rain), among other things.

When I was having my dish installed, it started raining in the middle of the installation. He completed the work, but went very slowly because the ladder was wet and he was already scared of heights. Plus my roof is two stories up! I felt sorry for the guy.

Personally I break out my blow dryer to counter the effects of the rain, keep on installing and grease her up for protection and git r done, or at least for the last 12 years I have, is that shocking or what.

Thank you!!!

I work in the rain alot. As long as it is not lightning or pouring down so much I cannot see. I got rained on all day this past Tuesday. I smelled like a wet dog when I got home.

The general rule is "Work in the rain, unless there is lightning" I work in the elements everyday. My company would go broke if we were not able to work when it rained or snowed or blizzard conditions.

The worse the weather, the more work I have to do and the later I have to work.

I personally would rather have the dish installed in the rain, that way you know it is peaked for the optimal signal strength.

pretty much i do the same....and im on the opposite side of the state over here in allentown area...although most of my work is done in NJ. I grew up in Johnstown, PA.....but love the O

I remember the guy who installed my oval dish 4 years ago did it in some very high winds. There was no way I was going to go up there on a day like that. At one point I heard a thud and a sliding sound on the roof. I looked out the window and saw the old round dish hanging on the rain gutter and a hand reaching down to get it. It would have been a two story drop if he fell. I was glad he got the job done because I was anxious to see HD in my house. Been loving it ever since.
