I recently moved into a new house. I did not bring my old Dish 500 with me because there was a dish 500 with a twin LNB installed on the house already. I have not been able to get my receiver to work. I only have one receiver. When I run the Switch Test, no switches are detected. I have bought a new Dual LNB ("Digital LNBF") to no avail. I have tried to connect the LNB directly to the reciever, and I still can't get it to recognize the switch. My reciever is model 301. I took it to a friends house and it works fine off of his satellite. Please Help!

First of all welcome to SatelliteGuys beanj.

Second we need a little more info, and we are here to help you.

First of all lets clear out that receiver. Unhook the coax going to the satellite in and run a check switch(I assume you know what I mean if not ask) it will take a while and go through a bunch of steps(cause it for sure does not see a LNBF). Once it is done re-hook up the coax and do it again, if you still get same message then it could be sevaeral problems. If you know that there is a good coax going straight from LNB to receiver and no signal or whatever the dishes LNBF could be bad or not pointed properly. What do you mean by "I have tried to connect the LNB directly to the reciever"????..............you should not need any switches or splitter looking thingys with one receiver??....

I have tried two different Coax cables. When I say that I connected the LNB directly to the receiver, I mean that I removed the LNB from the dish and connected it to the receiver with a four foot piece of Coax. I also tried running the switch test without any coax cables connected to the receiver and then reconnected the LNB and ran the switch test again. Both times it indicates that there is not a switch connected.

I have installed it back on the house. The elevation and skew have been set to 84 and 43 respectively. When I attempt to find a signal by changing the azimuth, I pickup Bell Expressvu 91. I am not having any luck picking up 110 or 119. My zip code is 89511. When I pickup Bell Expressvu 91 and run the switch test, it indicates that the installed device is a 500 Twin and that only one satellite is connected. Can anyone offer advice to zero in on the 110 and 119 satellites?

Thanks.

Those two birds are about 40 degrees apart and about 10 degrees apart in elevation. Move your dish about 40 degrees to the right. Hook up your one line to the 119 port and slowly turn your dish to the right and have somebody watch your screen to let you know when you get a signal on 119. Your elevation for your zip code should be 43 and your skew is 84... your compass reading should be 156... which is 24 degrees west from due south. Due south is 180 degrees.
