I've been a Dish customer for nine years. I'd like to get an HD/DVR receiver. Do you guys have any experiences with Dish upgrades? Ideally, I'd like the receiver free with maybe six months free HD programming. Does Dish have a customer retention department like D*?

JUSt call DISH and ask them what you are eligible for in the way of upgrades. IF you are eligible and you get hd for the first time then you should get a discount on hd for the first 6 - 12 months.

They are not going to give you the receiver For FREE and the programming for FREE for 6 months.

Standard promotion is $149 for the 622 and then $10 off for 6 months.

They never make deals ? Maybe say you are thinking of switching to DTV

They don't make deals. I wrote CEO yesterday explaining my disapproval of how new customer can get a VIP622 for free and a existing customer is costs either 49 or 99, depending on if you get installaion. I got a call basically reading from the website for the dish it up promotion and trying to explain to me no difference in what a new customer is getting and a existing customer upgrading. I wrote back to CEO explaining this and that I was going to FIOS TV in the next months when my subdivision is cabled

You got your sweet deal when you fisrt signed up with Dish. If they kept giving stuff away to current customers they would go out of business. DishNetwork is a business, not Uncle Sam who robs from the few to give to the many.

Not all of us got sweet deals when we signed up. Been with Dish since 1996 I have paid for all of my equip. Except for 1 942 which was a $249.99 Boat Anchor now.
