Disney Is ‘Pretty Dramatically’ Reducing Spending on Traditional TV Content

Then why pay. I get the majority of content from paid Live TV, all the streaming exclusives, Netflix, Apple TV+, MAX and Showtime, all in the highest tiers(except Peacock), no commercials and 4K. All for under $75 a month. And yes, I get Live News, CNN via MAX.

Disney Is ‘Pretty Dramatically’ Reducing Spending on Traditional TV Content

There was a miniseries out recently on ID (crime channel) focusing on the rise of cable "tween" shows in the 90s (Nick & Disney) and how there were predators on sets of some of them.

Disney Is ‘Pretty Dramatically’ Reducing Spending on Traditional TV Content

Not just the Disney named channels ( which had all those kid sitcoms), but channels like FX and it’s sister channel. Read that the FX remake of Shogun, it’s budget was $250 Million, with shows that costs that much, it cuts from other content. ABC Fall Schedule is out, only 5.5 hours of the...

Disney Is ‘Pretty Dramatically’ Reducing Spending on Traditional TV Content

Except that with streaming, the content purveyors can essentially charge a "DVR" fee for no-ad shows in a way they couldn't with service provider DVR.

Disney Is ‘Pretty Dramatically’ Reducing Spending on Traditional TV Content

I think the writing is on the wall. Streaming services will get first run shows and Cable/satellite will get reruns of first run shows after they are much older. There really isn't a reason to have live TV anymore with all those channels. I have to confess there is only a few cable like...

Dish Hopper 4 with much larger Hard drive???

I think your assumption would be incorrect. They can do those updates via satellite or internet downloads.

Dish Hopper 4 with much larger Hard drive???

Thanks, but I assume that they did not update any existing in the field. So if I got the H3 the year it came out, yes, it still works just great, then can I assume I'm still on 1+1 format?

Disney Is ‘Pretty Dramatically’ Reducing Spending on Traditional TV Content

Disney CEO Bob Iger said that as the traditional pay-TV universe continues to shrink, the company is cutting its investment in programming for linear entertainment TV networks while amortizing overall content spending across streaming platforms. The strategy is “to reduce pretty dramatically...

    NFL 2024-2025 Season

They're doing what they feel will maximize revenue. None of this is surprising and I'll be happy to subscribe in the short term to access the content I'd like to watch as long as it makes sense financially when the time comes. Whatever doesn't work out, doesn't. They'll pivot and find another...

    NFL 2024-2025 Season

Here's the question the NFL seems reluctant to ask of it's fans, would you rather watch any old NFL game or do you want to watch your NFL team? It seems to me that major sports streaming is never going to work to it's best advantage until the streaming package becomes team specific. If you are a...

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

I had a radio alarm clock on my nightstand, so there was no need to even get out of bed. I used to have a shortwave radio that had timers, and I connected that to a cassette recorder with VOX/voice activated recording, so at one time I did have a radio recorder so I could timeshift BBC radio...
