Is “Everybody in a rush to leave DIRECTV and DISH?” Really? Even on enthusiast forums?

If they were really hobbyists there remains plenty to play with as far as satellite beyond the DBS duopoly. Simply, they probably really weren't. There's always the impetus toward newer is better. DBS is now old hat while streaming is the new shiny object. The anecdote about the beginnings of...

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

No, they are pretty set on streaming. If a new Live TV streaming service, would be in competition with YTTV, who has a big head start, already has more subscribers then Dish and Sling together. But if they did do so, means a price war between 2 services where the margins are already quite low...

Disney Is ‘Pretty Dramatically’ Reducing Spending on Traditional TV Content

They had to strap her in, so to speak, because they wanted the Innocent kids image. This became too difficult, and she was a, if not THE, major character on the show. All good things got to come to an end.

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

I could imagine Amazon or perhaps Tesla/SpaceX buying the whole thing. Both have the financial resources and it would fit in either business plan.

Is “Everybody in a rush to leave DIRECTV and DISH?” Really? Even on enthusiast forums?

Before I ran this blog, I was involved in enthusiast forums. Before reddit, before Facebook groups, before YouTube, this was how people got critical tech support information for their hobbies. Often times you had a group of people who were pushing hardware to the limit and they wanted to know...

Episode 8 was broadcast yesterday. Now there is only the season (and series) finale left which is a double-episode. Will they spread it out over two weeks or both next Thursday?

OK; I thought I watched enough Mickey Mouse Club episodes to understand this, but alas I do not. What "bursting out" did she do? Can you find a video because I sure can't.

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

Well, the difference there was the private equity firm smothered the company in debt to buy Toys R Us. Ergen smothered Dish with debt to try and save it.

When does that go into effect? I'm still picking up the feeds on 99W C-band with no problem. I'm getting 13.42 dB C/N on my osmio on a 12 footer (which needs to be repeaked when I stop being lazy).

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

I'm not saying it's a viable business long term, but I think it has a few more years left in it. I'm 50/50 on if they're still around at the end of the decade...but I'm confident they'll be around the next 2-3 years.

EchoStar/Dish raises doubts about 'ability to continue as a going concern'

They does not guarantee they will be saved. Toys r Us still had cashflow, look what happened to them (which would have happened anyways after a period of time).

If there's cashflow, someone will step in. Maybe Eddie Lampert is looking for another business to finish running into the ground?

    How things have changed

Those two things have nothing to do with each other though. Just because the sats are up there and working doesn't mean the folks on the ground have the money to operate. A previous employer took out a 3 year lease on an office. They went out of business in one year. Just because they had a 3...
