no picture. signal resolution is on most of the times then goes off briefly, all buttons on the remote work but I never get a picture. It's an AMIKO

Agreed, the preamp does not create a signal that isn't there but if the signal is there but low it will help get it down the coax cable to your tv (or distribution amp in my case) in still usable condition. Our stations are in the 40 to 50 mile range away and two edge. No preamp at the mast...- FTA4PA

Correct location
That's what works for me. Aim in the general direction using info from Dishpointer website, blind scan once I get a 'hit' with my meter then compare to known frequencies in the charts. Adjust dish as needed. ;)- FTA4PA
