    Hi, My name is Al

Hello amaldo2835! Welcome to Satellite Guys! First off, you should know in advance that much of what is offered on a cable tv system is not available via FTA so it is not a direct replacement for that. Not that the channels aren't there - they are - but are scrambled. Now, there is indeed still...

Podcast #581: House of the Dragon season 2 is coming. Will you be able to see or hear it?

In this podcast, we talk about the upcoming season of House of the Dragon. Season one was criticized for being too dark and quiet. Will season 2 be any better? Watch, then shop at Solid Signal - Signal Solutions including HDTV Antennas, DIRECTV and DISH Network satellite equipment and home...

    Hi, My name is Al

Abandon all hope, ye who enter The Hobby. Do you have good enough Internet service to try streaming? FTA is a hobby, not a good way to “set it and forget it” and just watch TV.

    How things have changed

I’m a baby boomer. I once paid about 13% interest on a home mortgage. Thankfully that did not last long. I routinely throughout my life, starting in high school, made and packed my own lunch. Of course, in grammar school we got subsidized lunches. But I worked in the dishwashing area, big...

You can skip back and then ffw. But no skipping commercials otherwise. You can pause the feed but you can't record it.

Great bargain, still get Live Feeds of Showtime (and CBS), considering Cable/Satellite charge about $12 a month for Showtime, save $84 by getting it directly from Paramount.

If anyone is interested, P+ is offering the Essential (+Showtime and no ads) 1/2 off for 1 year ($59.99), as good or better than their Black Friday deal, which I passed on. I jumped on this one.

    How things have changed

I am Gen X, it is not that hard, they just need to quit wasting money. But that seems to be problem nowadays, not just with X, but Millennials and Z also. Does anyone really need to buy that $10 ( with tip)Cup of special coffee every morning, spending $10-20 on lunch instead of packing it...

I fully agree with your assessment of Sling TV. If Dish would keep all of the Hopper 3 capabilities including the trick plays and all the current content but utilize streaming instead of satellite for transmission I would embrace it. I have Spectrum internet with no data caps so streaming would...

    How things have changed

Actually Playstation Vue started up the same time as Sling TV, in 2015, it had the Networks (Locals) and about 30 Cable Channels. So, was Mr.Ergen unable to carry them or unwilling to pay the extra to carry them? And yes, it would of lost money at first, YTTV has just turned profitable this...

I have not been able to test the streaming feature since I have not had bad weather. But others have mentioned that commercials could not be skipped while streaming was active. Plus some customers have data limits on their internet service. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    How things have changed

Yes, real estate, the stuff that has had three-ish booms in my adult lifetime (the first which led to a catastrophic economic collapse), but I was the benefactor of ridiculously low interest rates and buying before the first boom got too crazy. Gen X has to manage interest rates and inflated...

    How things have changed

I'm sure Dish would have loved to offer such a service (and did at the start in the mid 90's) but the content providers would never allow it. Their greed of forcing multiple channels of reruns into every package hastened their demise.

This feature works exactly as advertised. A microburst started dumping rain this morning. It took about 20 seconds for ror the red dish to appear and switch to streaming. Return to satellite was seamless about ten minutes later.
