DISH voted the WORST to work for in the U.S. according to 24/7 Wall Street.

If some would bother to take the time to read the article, they would understand how they came up with this. Dish is a very rotten company. They are so rotten that Sprint and Clearwire wanted nothing to do with them. Out of all the horrible companies out there, Dish floated to the top. While...

DISH Makes offer to buy Sprint (Rescinded)

Good move for Sprint. I wouldn't want to end up in Dishes graveyard either.

I HATE CABLE, but this is cool

Perhaps that is the whole point, to control the ad content. This is long overdue. I would imagine it doesn't save it online, it just makes is more like VOD. Instead of having millions of the same copy on everyones DVR HDD, it links to a copy and possibly downloads it when start playing it.

DISH Makes offer to buy Sprint (Rescinded)

These two companies are perfect for each other. Spending a few years in both industries, there is a good reason why I prefer DirecTV and Verizon over the likes of Dish and Sprint. Up until the last couple years, Verizon was the clear cut industry leader. AT&T has stepped up its game quite a...

    Another failed Direct TV install

You're correct. He "COULD" have made it work. The fact remains is that DirecTV (and DISH) very specifically state that installs are not to be done onto stucco. I fully understand you really don't give 2 bits about that rule. What remains is the installer is not going to risk getting wrote...

    No more dish for me.

As another stated, try DirecTV. Their orbital slots are not all over the arc. Its in a nice 6º window. If you could get one of Dish's orbital slots, there is a good chance you can get DirecTV

    Spectrum Analyzer

Personally I like the Avcom RS-2500B. Its basically the guts of the Spec A in a 5x7 box and requires a laptop for the GUI.

    Cable to DirecTV switch

It really depends on your viewing habits. Will all 8 be on at one time? One HR34 and four H25's (there are no HR25's... HR series are the DVR's) could get the job done to have HD on all TV's AND to have DVR access. If you choose to go with SD boxes for some TV's, those will not have viewing...

Unhappy with Dish, switching to Direct TV. What satellites do I need to point to? What kind of set

Grab the HR34. Once you move into your new house, it will give you more flexibility on what you will need to upgrade later while filling your immediate needs.

Wife **Hates** the new Black HD GUI - any way to get the old one back?

New Guide runs great on the HR23 and its much smoother and quicker. It would be nice if we could add our own color. Im can see if you had the H/24 series, it could be more sluggish.

Brand new DirectTV cust. From Dish

Advice: Get a TV before installation. They can not install w/out TV(s), regardless what the CSR said.

Bloomberg: Dish working on a web TV service and possibly looking at T-Mobile's assets.

What do you mean which towers do they use? Tmobile is its own company and has its own licensed spectrum. They use their own towers. TMobile's parent company wants to offload them very badly. This isn't a partnership in a sense of trying to complimenting services such as the one Verizon...

Interesting Read: How Apple will beat DIRECTV

This was a very painful read. The Iphone has revolutionized the wireless industry, not in technology, but in consumer demand. I will give apple that. Apple fanboys think anything Apple craps out is going to be another golden egg. The Ipad was not revolutionary. If all you want is to watch a...

Semi technical guy looking for DIY installation advice/equipment reccomendations.

You will need to get another slimline dish. Whether is the standard 4 port lnb like your current or swm, it wont simplify anything unless you plan on putting in a DVR. Check your local craigslist. It shouldn't be hard to find a slimline dish for a few dollars. Yes, you can DIY. Read a few...

Help with older reciever and satellite signal issues

you have the dish pointed fine. you either have a bad LNB, bad cable or the receiver tuner is toast. Do you have a clear Line of Site? Branches can cause that too. Bring the receiver outside and attach it directly to the LNB. Bring a spare receiver from home and test it.

hd dvrs now only 149 dollars

Apples and Oranges. When you get a subsidized phone, its yours to keep. When you pay $200.00 for an HRDVR, its leased. There is no reason for a contract. If you cancel your services 3 months later, they will turn around and lease it to someone else for $200.00. Further, if you should stay...

    Realigning Dish

Im assuming you're not using a meter to point the dish and you are using the receiver's signal level menu to point the dish. Using the dithering method is ONLY if you have a meter that can read the DB levels/signal strength at the dish. As I stated before, you can turn the fine tuning...

    Which dish do I need?

All HD is on the 3 LNB dish (99/101/103). Some areas require the 5LNB for locals and international programming. If you state what market you are in, someone can tell you if the 3 LNB will work. If you have a clear line of site, going with the 5 LNB won't hurt anything.

    Realigning Dish

1st, it is imperative that the mast be level on all sides. Also, once you put the dish on, make sure its stay level. 2nd, make sure you have the correct skew settings. 3rd, undo the lockdown bolts for the fine tuning adjustments. Next, center the fine tuning right in the middle of the...

    Realigning Dish

To get the proper levels on the 99 and 103, you will need to use the fine tuning bolts/adjustments. If you're not sure what Im talking about, then youtube some videos on how to dither a direcTV dish. You can get high 90's on 101/110/119 all day and still completely miss 99/103

Cleaning up after the installers mess.

Grounding is more of an art than a science, regardless what people insist. Your house is not going to burn down to the ground and the gods of grounding are not going to send a lighting bolt to your dish to teach you a lesson. There are a fair percentage of installs that are not grounded or...

Going around in circles with Directv after 9 years of great service.

I hate to be the one bringing bad news, but it looks like they have the wrong dish again. The Triple Sat 18x20 is the 101/110/119. It will not have the 99/103. Now this isn't to say they will not have the right materials. First you need to understand that in most cases, DirecTV farms out...

I am 98% done with Directv!

If that is your youtube video, then it looks like you have a playback problem. Now you didn't mention if this is intermittent or a constant problem. If its constant, it should be easy to resolve. If this was a downlink issue, you would be experiencing pixelation with frame freezing. This...

Was about to leave DISH for Direct. I'm not sure after doing more research.

Wait for the HR34 or whatever its called to come out. Its suppose to have 5 tuners built into it. It might be more like what youre looking for.
