Yes, Dish just had to get rid of true commercial free HD content and replace it with glorious SD stretch-o-vision or 4:3 SD content with side pillars that they pretend is HD. Of course, we're expected to pay a premium for such inferior content. What a joke!
For the most part, Dish_in_the_sky's advice is excellent. I live in Salem and receive the Cleveland stations using a CM 4228, a Winegard YA-1713 high band VHF antenna and a CM 7777 preamplifier. I'm about 55 miles from the Cleveland transmitters.

I think Cleveland is the first market to have four stations broadcasting local news in HD, WEWS (ABC), WJW (FOX), WOIO (CBS) and WKYC (NBC). WOIO also has a 10 PM newscast in HD on WUAB (My43). WOIO and WUAB are both owned by Raycom.
