    Stream Confusion

The problem with the guide freezing and restarting seems to have cleared up. It was probably just because it was so new. I remember that with the satellite service it took a while for the guide to be fully populated.

    Stream Confusion

I came into a little extra money and went ahead and bought the Gemini Air off of eBay after returning the Roku to the local big-box store. The Gemini does fulfill my desire for a more simplistic interface, especially the dedicated guide button and the ability punch in channel numbers. I also...

    Stream Confusion

Thanks so much, KyL416! I actually have had trouble with Titan in the past for just my local antenna channels. Sometimes it will freeze and will not go forward in time. I gave up on trying to keep the -02, -03 type channels correct. They would be off by one to three hours. Sometimes they...

    Stream Confusion

Titantv.com has an option for setting up a new channel line-up to choose DirecTV Stream. I made it to match the favorites list I have on the TV. I like to scan through the listings for the day and see what I might like to record. Using Titan on a computer is much easier than clicking the Roku...

    Stream Confusion

I signed up for DirecTV Stream yesterday. As mentioned above, I was concerned whether I would be needing to look for internet alternatives as the government funded help with connectivity ends. It appears that Spectrum is going to continue to offer a lower cost tier of service that has actually...

    Stream Confusion

That is good to know. I just have to wait and see what happens with the internet situation here. It has been free for about two years in this low income and rural area. I never asked for it but kept getting mailings from Spectrum that all I had to do is go pick up the equipment. I understand...

    Stream Confusion

I have been researching the possibility of streaming DirecTV. I had the satellite service several years ago. I have tried several of the "cable like" streaming services and as a senior citizen do not like all of the extra button pushing just to bring up a guide and worse yet record a single...

    From DISH about Locals

The last time I checked DTV stream did not include any of the Music Choice channels. That is something that I would really appreciate as there is not much variety in English language music where I live.

    Channels in HD?

As a potential customer I am interested due to the fact that neither MeTV or H&I are available OTA in El Paso. COZI's picture is bit-starved due to cramming in more channels in the signal stream and there is no guide data except from the national web site. It would be beneficial to Direct TV...

    Thank you.

    Channels in HD?

I was able to find a member who indicated that MeTV is HD with Direct. What about H&I and COZI? If not HD, are they at least full screen 16:9?

New OTA bandscan tuners in New Mexico

Indeed, my memories of the phenomena are all low VHF and FM. The channel 4 mentioned above (now known as KDBC) had been urged by residents of Southern New Mexico to try and move to channel 11 which was licensed to Juarez, Mexico but unused at that time. Even cable companies in Lordsburg and...

New OTA bandscan tuners in New Mexico

Back in the analog days there was a lot of Tropo in NM. In the summer channel 4 from El Paso was unwatchable many days in Las Cruces, just 40 miles away due to other channel 4s intruding. In Albuquerque, I remember watching an entire concert on channel 2 from San Francisco. Also in Las...

    El Paso ATSC 3.0

I had to do an update to my Sony software to get the ATSC 3.0 channels to have picture and sound. Before that they were in the list but just a black screen. I don't know if that means they are encrypted or not.

    El Paso ATSC 3.0

Yes, thank you. Digging down in the menu to find the "real" channel is a chore.

    El Paso ATSC 3.0

Trip: El Paso, Texas got it's first ATSC 3.0 today. I have a Sony OLED that can tune the channels. KDBC, KVIA, KTSM KFOX and KTDO are all using the RF 15 frequency. It seems that FOX, Comet, Charge and Nest are on RF 26 with the other Telemundo stations. I am sure you can sort this out...

    Ota Dvr

Since the digital transition in 2009 I have tried Tivo, Tablo and the Dishnetwork's OTA module. The major concern I have had is getting correct guide data matched to the correct real RF channel. With the switching of frequencies going on now due to ATSC 3.0 that must be even worse. The...

    Switch to Eastern Arc

Bobby has a good point. As I wrote in the original post, this is a hobby as much as a TV service. I just wanted to play around with the technical of it. Unfortunately, it is much more complicated than it was in the late 90's and early 2000's and I don't fully understand all of the details...

    Switch to Eastern Arc

Just another thought on this subject. I see that I would only loose a couple of channels that I care about if I only picked up the 61.5 satellite. I have the Flex Pack with no add-ons. The landlord has several old single orbital 18 inch dishes he would gladly give me. What would happen if I...

    Switch to Eastern Arc

I am thinking about switching from the Western Arc to Eastern. In a previous thread I asked about the LNB drift I am seeing on the "issues" under settings. A most knowledgeable member stated that it is due to a failing refurbished LNB or poorly aimed dish. I don't have a lot of faith that my...

    LNB Drift?

I returned to DISH about two weeks ago and happened across the "issues" button in the "status" section of settings. It shows "LNB Drift detected". Sometimes it is both satellites and other times just one. The numbers in parenthesis are generally around -5 or -6. Most of the threads on this...

    Tegna dispute IS OVER!

The option to not pay for locals is the main reason I recently choose Dish over Direct. Honestly, Direct has some channels that I would have liked and more in HD but I did not want to pay for my low quality locals that often have one or two in contract black outs.

    OTA Adapter Questions

Thank you, I see the two unused client ports on the splitter outside. I think the installer just used it to connect two cables together as there is nothing else connected to the splitter. Could a member point me to a link for a "hybrid tap"? I am not seeing one at Solid Signal and Google...

Thanks, that is what I suspected. I will have to decide if it is worth it to run another line and drill another hole through the wall.
