Calling BTV & SD from the US for problems?

If you've been with them for awhile, some brokers will give you your account information so you can call them direct for routine stuff. Shaw will want your account number, service address, phone number and name on the account. From the US, dial the *67 prefix to block your ID. If they question...

    Is Roku the Answer?

If-and-when you decide to go with an Internet media streaming device, ROKU is my recommendation. Although most blu-ray players now have Internet connectivity, they have agreements with only a few providers. ROKU has well over 100, and are adding more all the time. I'd say in a year or two...

    Shaw Direct HDPVR 630

I agree. It is a pain and expensive to ship receivers back-and-forth (usually through an intermediary). I'll be keeping my 530 until it dies and go with the $199 deal once it is official. Let's hope the reviews to come on the new DVR are positive.

    hackers bite the dust

Hopefully you tried to help him with the info that his dish and LNB are useless for true FTA. He'll need at least a 30-inch dish and linear LNB. BTW, what satellite WAS your Ultra aimed at before AMC6?

    Dish Security Conversion Schedule

Correct. The European version has been secure for over two years now. All the FTA sites continue to feed their subscribers with optimistic crap, so they can continue to sell receivers. When the Dish Network card swap is complete, the joke will be on them.

Post your 129W Spotbeam Signal Readings

So my moderately strong signals on TPs7 and 9 are spotbeams aimed at Northern California. Good.

    Ciel-2 Signal Monitoring

Tps 7 and 9 Both my 411 and my son's 722 show almost identical signal levels, and the monitoring software does not indicate that they are spotbeams. That's no proof of course, but it would indicate that they are still coming from E5, since all of Ciel-2's transponders below 17 are spotbeams.

    Ciel-2 Signal Monitoring

Correct. Since the menu doesn't show them as spotbeams but identifies Tp 5, 7 and 9 as belonging to 129, that's what makes me think that they are still coming from E5.

    Ciel-2 Signal Monitoring

Ciel-2 spot beams They're really moving these around, pinpointing them on their intended areas. The 50 beams are MUCH tighter than those from EchoStar 10. Check the satbeams site to see what their intended coverage areas are. In Northern California (Sierra foothills), I'm getting 5 spotbeams...

    Ciel-2 Signal Monitoring

    No change here in N. CA. It's still a rock-solid 70.

    Ciel-2 Signal Monitoring

Way To Go Ciel-2! Ciel-2's CONUS beam is certainly more powerful here in Northern California. Nearly all of the transponders above 13 have doubled in strength. Missing ones (20, 24-26 and 29) are now up. Those still from Echo 5 are louder, because others have been turned off. More power for...

    Ciel 2 Tracking

Hi John, I'm interested in your present setup. Are your 30" dishes all equipped with Dishpro LNBs or legacy LNBs? And what switch are you using (SW34 or DP34)? Thanks.

    Nimiq 4 strength

Still no improvement here in Northern California. Only Transponder 2 is viewable, and that's with a 90-cm dish.

    Nimiq 4 strength

Star Choice I've been one of their subscribers for over two years. Their HD package is a bit thin but adequate for my needs. I had a minor problem with my DVR, but it was taken care of in rapid fashon. I highly recommend Star Choice, no matter which side of the border you live on. Next year...

    Nimiq 4 strength

Let's see what happens in the next few days I have a one meter (39") dish aimed at the 82 slot. Only Transponder 2 is coming in here in Northern California. I'll report any changes.
