Signal Loss Question Solved: My dish was covered with snow!

Complete signal here in the Texas panhandle. Happened right at 4:00 pm (central).

A couple questions: Will I be able to watch a show from the satellite while recording a different show from the satellite? Also, if a timer had been set to record a show from the satellite from 7:00 until 8:30, will I be able to watch any other show on the satellite during that same time period?

The EHD has to have an external power source. USB won't work.

Thanks to all who have responded so far. To be clearer: I was unaware of the EHD option, but what I'm looking for, I guess, is a Solo version of the 722 because I want to be able to stop and rewind and pause and all of that while watching a program as it airs. The closest thing I could find...

Ouch! Not one of Dish's better boxes... What about the 722 even though I will use it on one tv only?

Thanks guys for the quick responses. I had no idea I could simply connect an External Hard Drive to my VIP 211 and be able to record programming in HD. I am looking for a receiver that I can pause, etc. and record one program while watching another. Can this be accomplished with an EHD? Bob
