    Rasberry pi

It is way more than a toy. It was never intended to be a personal computer. It is ideal for tons of embedded applications where power, space and cost are issues.

    GEOSATpro microHD gone wild

My micro has been working great with old software (PBS Feeds mostly), and if the need arises I will update the firmware. For some time now; I've been watching the way Brian handles customer issues. I am thoroughly impressed! Satellite AV, and Brian Gohl in particular are part of what make this...

    11' Dish and no Concrete

That's how my 32' TV tower was installed years before I bought this place. The outriggers are made of steel instead of wood. Still standing and still useable after 30 years.

    Drilling through foundation.

Use a small (1/8" - 3/16") long pilot bit to drill from the inside out. If you measured things close, all you will hit outside is air. Then with a holesaw sized for the PVC pipe LB you are using drill from the outside in. you will have a very clean hole easy to seal and a close fit to your PVC...

    Drilling through foundation.

I went out above the foundation and sill plate from the crawl space, ran everything in 1-1/4" plastic pipe. Made two separate piping runs, one for coax (6) and cat5 (2), the other for GFCI power at the dish array. If you have to drill into masonry, diamond hole saws have gotten cheap at the big...

I got a machinist to chuck the scalar in a lathe and open up the center hole a few thousandths for a standard C band lnb, I ended up changing the unistrut clamps in the photo for simple "L" brackets and set screws.

    Satellite finder suggestions?

Get a long extension cord and take the box to the dish with a small tv, or get a pair of diplexers and push the receiver output back out to the dish.

12' Unimesh added to the lineup

Yep polar mount, freshened up the hardware as half of the bolts were worn pretty bad. It came with an ancient Ajax with potentiometer feedback. And it works! For now I will use it as a fixed dish (like the rest of them). I may hook this one up to the micro and the gbox in the spring.

12' Unimesh added to the lineup

Week before last I got over to a farm a few miles from here and snagged the 12 foot Unimesh I have had my eye on for a couple of years. Last weekend I got the holes for the piers dug, the concrete poured, and the tripod mounted. Today with the help of as couple of friends got her up and ready to...
