    Streaming Is The New Cable

Do not use one anymore, picture quality on streaming services is so much better, even vs OTA. I do not regret dropping Traditional Paid Live TV at all, get the same content, get the extra content, all at 1080P/4K for under $70 a month.

Traditional Providers Losses, 1st Quarter 2024 Edition

I believe it give you a trial period of 2 weeks, so that you can return it if it does not work out. The speed of your Charter connection might be related to your modem, what model is it. I remember when I upgraded to Comcast’s 1G speed, I was only getting 300 down, that was because I needed a...

Live TV without local channels? Why?

There is another way, everyone of those shows you have listed in that ratings chart, are available on Paramount+ and Peacock, either Live or On Demand, total price for the no commercials tier-$23 a month, but they also include all of Viacom’s/Universal’s Cable Channels’ content, along with...

Traditional Providers Losses, 1st Quarter 2024 Edition

I still chat with one of old neighbors, he switched to T-Mobile. My old subdivision had a massive flood( had a super rain event) 3 years after we moved ( first one ever in that neighborhood), destroyed everything in all the basements. He said Comcast has not worked correctly since then ( all...

Yep, DVRs was what started everything, taught people they no longer needed to watch Live TV, which advertisers preferred.

Traditional Providers Losses, 1st Quarter 2024 Edition

My guess is 5G services. My old sub-division back in Michigan ( moved in 2020), we only had one option, Comcast, today, they have all of the 5G Options available. Where I am now, in Florida, only Charter/Spectrum, no 5G, in the next few years, we shall see.

Traditional Providers Losses, 1st Quarter 2024 Edition

Comcast lost 487,000 cable TV customers in the first quarter. Already with just two providers reporting, we are at a 551,000 video subscriber loss. The company also lost 65,000 broadband customers for the quarter, a jump over the 34,000 it lost in the 4th quarter of 2023...

    Streaming Is The New Cable

Locals have sports, all networks and their affiliates have sports. But the point is, ratings have been dropping every year for those channels the last 7 years. But cable channels ratings have dropped also, for obvious reasons.

    Streaming Is The New Cable

If local stations/ affiliates did not have per sub fees, they would be out of business, advertising rates is up to 3/4 down , as Advertisers have moved to streaming for the cheaper rates and a more accurate count of who is watching. Does not help when Cable/Satellite are down to 55 Million...

    Streaming Is The New Cable

I never believe any survey, because the math does not add up, this for example- Out of that 4400 that completed the survey- Sports is a key content category. Seventy-six percent of respondents say they are at least casual fans and 21% say they are avid fans. Fifty-five percent watch sports...

What the Cable Industry used to say about Cord Cutting

I work for them, I also lost my job, then they hired me right back, but I retire (for a second time) next month. My friend who offered me the job originally, also lost hers, but Paramount offered her employment and she accepted months ago. And if Amazon goes get the NBA rights as rumored, that...

    Buyout bid for Paramount

Sony has been trying to figure out how to get in on having their own streaming service, but they did not want to deal with years of losses and hope it turns profitable, plus the fact that there are too many services. Since Paramount+ will soon be profitable ( in about a year), now might be a...

Only 2 People In The World Have This TV

4200 lumen, super bright, just had the back patio redone with sun blocker screen material, live in a semi-rural area, 2 acres of land, so totally dark, neighbors are way too far away, lights in the front yard do not impact, lights in the back are also off when I am watching, except for the solar...

Warner, Fox, Disney to Launch Streaming Sports Joint Venture

Again, there are a few services that are less expensive then Fubo, that pay the same per sub fee that Fubo does, should Fubo start a lawsuit against Sling, YTTV or Hulu Live because of that? This has been in the planning stage since Oct. 2023 ( I was hinting about it then, when it was just...

No, saying they are trying to figure out what to do with Hulu Live, I cannot say more. Hulu Sports is the rumored name of the new service, but there are other names they are thinking about. We will soon find out since the planned launch is about 4 months away, late August.
