    Streaming from OSmio4K to TV

I stream 4:2:2 from the MIO to the TV using a laptop PC and KODI. Use the enigma2 add-on in Kodi. Just enter the IP of your MIO, it already has the port number set etc for steaming. Also make sure your LAN has lots of headroom. Router here maxes at 4GB (16 ports) and does fine, but a basic...

    Getting into HAM in 2024?

My advise: Try to get your HF privileges asap. Join local Amateur Radio club (s), get to know other hams. Lots of "Elmers" to help you out. Look for good used gear, VHF/UHF/HF, feedlines, power supplies, tuners... Clubs often have equipment for sale/wanted lists. Build your own antennas...

    OTHER STAB HH-120 motor maintenance

Re-greasing is so it works in cold climates. I re-did mine more than 10 years ago after I purchased it. The factory lube turns to concrete at -20C. Also the top bearing can come loose. I have tightened mine a few times. You have to dis-assemble the unit to tighten the nut. Using a bit of...

    Rebel Moon (Netflix)

Watched it last evening... Stayed awake for most of it (I think).. So I guess I can't give you an accurate rating if I likely missed the best part.. :)

    What Happened to Everybody?

I'm still here... Lots of other stuff going on these days managing my business, maintaining equipment (not just FTA stuff), and on the road quite a bit with the truck. Very difficult finding employees that are capable/functional these days so I have to do everything myself. I am also more busy...

Edision Mio+ with Hauppague 950Q OTA

Yes antenna placement and height can make a big difference. Maybe you could put your receiver dongle in a laptop or portable computer with a short feedline and try moving the antenna around. Never know with reflections off the houses and other obstructions you might find a sweet-spot. Likely...

Edision Mio+ with Hauppague 950Q OTA

Wondering if your pre-amp is too strong. I don't use the USB dongle in a satellite receiver, but in a raspberry pi running TVHeadEnd it works well. I added a high gain pre-amp a couple years ago to see if I could pick any more channels from down south. Ended up I couldn't receive most of the...

Are BNC connectors still used for anything?

Most of my test equipment uses BNC connectors; spectrum scope, oscilloscope, signal generators.. Certainly not dead, but they were never really popular in consumer stuff.

New TBS tuner might be interesting..

TBS6522H Multi-Standard Quad (2SAT+ 2Ter/Cable) Tuner PCI-E Card This in my email this morning, looks like it does ATSC1 on 2 antenna ports. Too bad it doesn't do ATSC3, but not much of that around yet especially up here. I didn't post a link I am sure google will find it. Hope CrazyCat is...

Testing the new Titanium C138 Performance Plus C Band LNBF

DRO or PLL? Just curious. Excellent service from the previous models with the heat sink. Operate at +43 to -40C, haven't noticed enough drift to create issues throughout that temperature range. Have 3 dual Ti LNBFs running here on my C-band dishes.

Win a 2 LNB Add On Bracket Bundle for Ku Dish w/Amiko LNB and Pansat 4x1 DiSEqC Switch!

Have a dead diseqc switch on my secondary movable Ku dish. Looks like the "weather resistant" enclosure came apart and rain made it's way in. LNBF on that dish is very old too so likely a good time to change it out as well. Using an old SG2100 rotor on that dish, still works like new. I opened...

Win a 2 LNB Add On Bracket Bundle for Ku Dish w/Amiko LNB and Pansat 4x1 DiSEqC Switch!

The first Ku dish I (tried) was an old 30" Star-choice dish. Could get a few TPs on 97W, think it was bent or something. Not sure what LNBF I used, think the circular that came with it was toast so must have purchased one. I found a 1m dish that I am still using shortly after, that one worked...

    Invacom QPH-031 Ku LNB

I have one here too. Took it out of service a couple years ago when I noticed a crack in the feedhorn lens/cover. maybe these are replacable? Just some special clear plastic. I haven't taken it apart to look how it's put together.

Help with Diseqc Settings in Mio+4k

Running 4 Zinwell switches here to my MIO 4k, works very well. Also several diseqc 1.1 switches to choose the proper powered switch. Rather complicates setup with 9 stationary dishes and two rotatables. ASC-1 runs the C-band actuator. Most receivers and/or cards will run this stuff. Just a...

Edision OS Mio+ 4k Now Available at Hypermegasat

Just ordered one here too, my old one is feeling it's age, the network connection is getting intermittent and I use it mainly for streaming. I see there were two left... now one.

    Found a C band dish.Now what?

@ILoveSats Check the actuator, pull off the boot and remove the back. Clean out any debris etc and check the wires. If it looks not too bad power up the motor and see what it does. Might just need a good cleaning. 12v should get it to move. Make sure you apply power to the motor wires (heavier)...

Ford to drop AM radio in new vehicles

Maybe you can order your new Ford without a "radio", and install an aftermarket unit with AM/FM/XM etc and have it installed professionally... Used to have a really good FM station that ran the full 50kW with antennae array up and down both sides of the top of their 1500ft tower. Likely close...

Help with streaming 4:2:2 feeds on Galaxy 16

maybe KODI or Plex can be installed on it to stream from the MIO4K? Thinking FireTV is linux or andriod based, should be something that works. I really don't know how to use the internal processor on a TV to make it work, I just use an old laptop and HDMI cable.

    Satellite c-band dish problem

Did your dish turn on it's pole, or the pole bent a bit? Check your pole is perfectly vertical, then check the mount is vertical etc. Have to start at the beginning and work your way through the alignment procedure so you don't miss anything. Good luck!

Anybody recommend usa meter budget less than 200

Most FTA receivers have a built-in meter that works very well. Just use an active transponder. May have to program it in, but not a big deal. Just take a display out to the dish with the receiver and power source. I also have an SH-200 from a few years ago. It works fine as long as it doesn't...

    Built a outdoor switch box

Agreed a nice outdoor weatherproof box for such electronics is stupid expensive.. been looking for parts for another project (non-satellite) requiring two small outdoor enclosures making it cost prohibitive unless something used/junk pile usable can be found. Great to be able to make up your...

Canada: CBC signals plans to go full streaming, ending traditional TV and radio broadcasts

Ok, I tried a second time and it went through without asking for the CC. Weird. Used a different email address with a .ca suffix maybe that made a difference... Now I can access the local and other regional programming. Seems for some reason previously it went straight to the premium link. I...
