I found out that an external power supply is needed for standard 3 1/2" external drives because of the added power they use. If you use a 2 1/2" drive without a separate power supply it should work fine even if not specifically supported.

It could be HDMI related. I had the same thing happen to my H3 yesterday. When I rebooted the H3 and my Denon receiver the sound came back. You may try swapping out the HDMI cable too.

I am glad Dish gave us the option of 2 updates. Personally, I never pay for VOD movies so it was a non-issue but I used the EHD a lot. HBO and Showtime VOD work fine for me with U336.

The problem is my 750 GB EHD is formatted into 3 partitions: partition 1 is ext3 and roughly 1 GB. It has an empty lost&found folder. Well U334 appears to have fixed my YouTube issue as it loads without crashing the receiver but it still doesn't see the EHD.

I did follow the instructions in post 7 -- several times. At least twice my H3 became unresponsive for maybe 30 seconds, then it rebooted/restarted on its own. YouTube was not fixed after doing ANY of the resets.
