My wife of many years wants a DVR for her TV which is not of the HD type. She wants to DVR some of her shows which come on after she goes to bed. What suggestions do any of you have for an inexpensive DVR for her to use and where I can locate one used or new?

Can the Dish box be connected to a desktop computer so it can be seen on the computer monitor? What equipment would be needed to do this. I have a VIP 222 box a computer with a HDMI input plus a tv tuner in my new PC.

I had a 222 installed on 12-14-07 and have had many problems with it freezing up. Dish has been back to my home twice since the 14th and I still have the problem. I have to reboot the receiver 6 to 8 times a week. Should I ask Dish to replace the 222 receiver? Is anyone else having this problem?

What is the best indoor HDTV antenna for over the air reception of local HD stations?

I have a 34 inch direct view HDTV and improved my dish 811 picture on local channels by using the S-video output from the 811 to my TV. I get a better picture than what I had with my DVI connection. Still use my DVI for HD but use my S-video for all other channels on dish....

Why doesn't Dish make smaller bundles on their programing so customers can have some choice on what they want to watch. If they price it right they could make more money by providing a user friendly access fot their customers.

Dish needs to go alacarte on programing and they would make more dollars by doing so. I don't like the bundled top 60, 120, 180 deals. It would make it very customer friendly.

I have had my 811 for over a year now and I have the 284 software. i have not had any problems like yours with DVI, S-video, or over the air antenna.

Dish is crazy, I won't accept the increase because I will move down from the 180 to the 120 package. I don't need all those radio channels for a TV.

I was referring to hooking up the same TV to the 811 using both the DVI and S-Video, I would run the DVI to one input on my TV and the S-Video to another input on my TV. I hooked mine up that way and don't really see any difference in the picture. Even with the S-Video connected to another TV...

Try the silver sensor antenna you can place near your TV like the rabbit ears. I live in Charlotte, NC and with my $24 sensor I can pick up all 10 of my local HD channels. You can but it on Amazon.com or Best Buy but they are higher priced. The silver sensor is primarily for UHF reception.

I have had my 811 for 11 months and have had no major problems. I have had a few minor ones and when I use the reset procedure it always clears up and works fine. I believe I got one of the very first 811's in the Charlotte, NC area and may have been lucky in the draw pool of customers.....
