I received my official letter today.

Once you start using a DVR, you find it very hard to ever "go back". :) Picking what you want to watch is so much better than taking whatever is fed to you! Brad

I received my official letter today.

Everyone was (is?) paying a "rural access fee," or something like that, which helped pay for running phone lines to rural locations. BTW, the same arguments that the houses were too far apart to wire applies to phone and electricity. They are still far apart and they are likely to be at the...

Good point. I tend to grab a point a bit too hard sometimes. :) Brad

I received my official letter today.

I am qualified to say that Christians are supposed to "love one another" since that is a clear command in Scripture. Those who don't follow the Scriptures can certainly do whatever they please. :) "If someone doesn't love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. "...

I received my official letter today.

I am a bit more shy about proclaiming I am better than anyone else Bill. Sounds a bit like pride in this case.... If your statement is true, you are certainly not staying faithful to the "love your brother" command, especially for those "in the faith". You are certainly free to believe...

    SkyAngel Plans Move to IPTV

Woo Hoo!!!! Now SkyAngel IPTV viewers can watch male enhancement/performance ads.... That should go over well with SkyAngel's audience! :p (They disgusted me so much I stopped watch a few local games because of them.) Brad

I received my official letter today.

So? Who says DSL is the way high speed Internet will come? It took a long time to get everyone hooked up to the electrical and phone grids, with some serious challenges along the way. I don't follow it closely, but I have heard WiFi is struggling a bit too. Who knows what technology will...

GOD TV May Go to Dish (SkyAngel Programming Replacement?)

They are also on the Internet. In fact, I think that is where they started, though I am not certain on that. Brad

I received my official letter today.

Yes Bill, some of us are really that naive! And quite proud of it I will add! This is the SkyAngel forum, and since SA had a focus on Christian programming, it is quite reasonable to expect Christians to post on this forum, including those that take God seriously. He wouldn't be much of a...

I received my official letter today.

I would expect that SA is no longer an issue since they don't own any transponders. :) Brad

I received my official letter today.

That's her job! :) I agree that high-speed access will spread to many more places. In fact, it will allow much more interactivity since it won't have to be based on a single satellite sending a signal down, but it will allow signals to go all over. Just as electricity and phone service...

    Sky Angel Petition

IPTV has troubles because IPTV has troulbes, simple as that. :) I suspect it will be a few years before it is viable, if then. It could be like VoIP (Voice over the Internet). It is only now being really good. Verizon has it as part of the package with their Fios service. It has worked...

GOD TV May Go to Dish (SkyAngel Programming Replacement?)

I know this is not SkyAngel, but several people wondered here about alternatives for Christian programming and this should be a consideration for all leaving SkyAngel. I just got an email from GOD TV telling that they are trying to get on Dish. I assume this is because SkyAngel is going...

What will you do when Sky Angel DBS ends?

I have been gone for a while. They finally installed Verizon Fios in my area and I got a bundled package for Internet access, cable and phone for $110 per month. That saves me money on access costs, though the 2 TivoHD units I bought cost me a bit. (Once you have a DVR, you have to have a...

    SkyAngel Plans Move to IPTV

I am not sure which ones you are referring to, but the link had a lot of questions and answers when I just looked. Perhaps everything isn't a grand conspiracy by SkyAngel.... :) Brad

    SkyAngel Plans Move to IPTV

I don't think it really matters who has high speed Internet. I believe they were going under and this is a desperate grasp to stay alive.... Brad

    SkyAngel Plans Move to IPTV

That is only true if this were an investment. It was not. It was a consumer good of sorts. No one expected to be able to resell their lifetime sub at a profit down the line. In addition, you had use of the product along the way, something that would not be true of the investment example...

    A&e Hd

If the shows were identical you would have a point, just downres the signal.... But, I have noticed that Food Network shows a different lineup in HD than in SD. :( I have not scoped all other channels, but I imagine they may be similar. Though your post seemed to imply you wanted ALL SD...

    A&e Hd

Why would I want to lose all the channels that are not HD just to meet some "all HD" mandate? Though as noted above, the mandate is digital, not HD. :) Brad

    SkyAngel Plans Move to IPTV

Why would they need radio channels over IPTV? Most of those (all?) are already on the Internet. :) Brad

    SkyAngel Plans Move to IPTV

It is only 2 M up, but that seems sufficient for me now. :) It is also the only choice. Brad

    A&e Hd

A&E HD works fine for me in Garland, Texas. It didn't have any guide info on my TivoHD, but it was playing something. :) I will note that I think DirectTV's claims may be a bit untrue. Perhaps they are counting all their local HD channels. :) Brad

    SkyAngel Plans Move to IPTV

I will bet SkyAngel is struggling to survive at all. I bet we will ultimately find out they had a lot less money than anyone believed, even with all the cost increases and $5 for the extra channels. Brad

Dumped DISH 622 and went with FIOS !!!

The TivoHD is "only" $250 at Amazon, but that is still a sizeable chunk. :) Brad

    SkyAngel Plans Move to IPTV

I now have 15 M down speed, sufficient enough to handle many things. I agree IPTV was tough to think of when I was at slower speeds, but with Fios it now becomes conceivable. I will not be going for SkyAngel's offering though. If I was going to do anything, God TV (Welcome to GOD.TV) looks...
