Dish DP811 code for my Hitachi TV

I think you stepped in it big time...I understood his first post (satire) quite well and got a chuckle out of it. If you're having a bad day that's fine; I know you help a lot of folks out here on the Forums and I usually enjoy your posts quite a lot...you hammered this poor guy and he didn't...

    Pacific Northwest VOOMers!

Thought I'd post over here in the Pacific Northwet section :) I just signed up at VOOM's website and have a scheduled install for the 23rd between 8am and noon. I'm up here on the north end of Whidbey Island (very close to Deception Pass). I've already got E* and I'm hoping VOOM does well...

Omigosh...I signed up! It's the Forums fault!

Well! We'll see how this little caper turns out! :shocked Thanks to all y'all chattering about VOOM, HD and whatnot I just had to finally go to the VOOM website and sign up. :no I've been with E* for about 7 years now and have generally been pretty pleased with them. But...I am still...

A new quirk on my 811

I cancelled an installation to switch over to Comcast (from Dish) in my area (ostensibly to get more HD and the HD PVR) when I found *so many* complaints about the lousy PQ on non-HD channels from the Motorola box that I couldn't ignore them. Most said the PQ was better if the SD channels came...

    811 receiver

Yeah, I agree...the first time I did that I thought the TV screen had suddenly turned into a mirror! :D Scary stuff... :shocked

    Dishnetwork - HDTV - cost

It's really the same as Comcast; when you pay the $49/mo (or whatever) for something like Digital Basic you don't own the Set Top Box (STB) that Comcast provides. If you get Comcast's HD package you get to pay the extra $5 (if you're a digital customer) and if you can get the HD PVR you get to...

Question about current E* cust wanting to updrade to HDTV

Fenwah, I have (and had) a 501 DVR; I've been with DISH for a while. I called DISH a couple of weeks ago hoping to find they were doing something with the 921 for current customers but no joy there. I told them it was really about getting HD; I could live with the 501 for the DVR part since...

    811 Aspect Ratio Control

Ok, so I'm guessing that would mean using two different input sections on my Hitachi HDTV (like input1 and input2). If so, I'll have to do something a bit differently since I'm already out of input space on the back ot the TV. Acutally on my set with the 811 the SD isn't looking too bad...

    811 Aspect Ratio Control

Hi Cholly, So do you have both component cables and the s-video cable connected from the 811 to the HDTV? And, if so, how is it that you 'tell' the 811 which port to use? I'm still new to this so pardon my 'newbie' questions. Thanks a bunch!

    I want to add a 2nd 811!

Great! :clap $25 seems pretty reasonable.

    Cancelled Dish

I've enjoyed 7+ years of DishNetwork so far; no equipment problems, no billing problems and pretty good deals on equipment upgrades. Guess I got the "7-year itch" and looked at Comcast (which just recently installed their service in our area) and VOOM. I'm telling you it's Gloom & Doom...

Warranty Meter Ticking Down On First Adopter 811

Wow! I didn't know what I had been missing :D I've been a DishNetwork customer for the last 7 years. In that time I've had a model 3000 receiver and a model 501 PVR; neither has ever even hiccuped. In fact, I can still plug that 7 year-old original $79 receiver in and it works; I'd say...

811 picture bigger than my TV screen

Have you tried the "Format" (*) button on the lower left hand corner of the remote? That cycles through the HD 'normal', 'stretch', 'partial zoom', etc modes (I may not have the precise names here). I think the Menu settings should be 16x9 and 1080i for your set.

    Sirius channels ala-cart?

No; Dish has only the 65 (or so) music channels; the 55 (or so) news/talk channels aren't on Dish. That's why I have Dish and Sirius! ;)

    I want to add a 2nd 811!

I called E* a few days ago to see what the available offers are for current customers. I was hoping there was something happening with the 921 since what I really want to do is add HD but I've got a 501 PVR now and have really gotten used to the PVR part. No joy on the 921 but they did tell me...

    Looking for some help.

Well, for one, make sure your TV is tuned up to give you the best picture possible; sometimes this makes a big difference. I've been on Dish for about 7 years now and found when I switched from cable to Dish there was a marked improvment in PQ (using the same network channels as reference)...

    Time to upgrade.

MikekiM, I'm a current customer of Dish and just called them this morning on some update items. Here's what I got...they offered the 811 (HD receiver; no recording) at no charge with no commitment. Since I'll keep the current receiver I have (a 501 PVR) I'll pay the $5/mo 2nd receiver fee...

A Pretty Good Deal On Sirius Radios

Uhh, that isn't going to help unless your unit is seeing more than one satellite (I'd like to know how it knows which one it's using in the case of a dropout). Just like you can't tell if there's a 5-second delay in transmission on live TV; once the data stream hits the airwaves its real time...

A Pretty Good Deal On Sirius Radios

Well...my Audiovox PnP2 did show up today! :) I ordered mine on Nov 14th. I checked on my Subscriber Home Page (https://home.sirius.com/webCUWI/Login.aspx) and it still doesn't show the ship date or tracking number; even after I received the radio! I agree with Sirius_Rich, they do show up...

A Pretty Good Deal On Sirius Radios

Thank you! :) That's more information than I've gotten from Sirius and it's good news! However, it doesn't take much in the (computer) programming department to have the order system spit out an automated "Thank You for Your Order" email; at least then you know you're on their radar. But I...

A Pretty Good Deal On Sirius Radios

I too ordered a unit and car kit and prepaid for a year's service on 11/14; I still haven't heard a thing and my Order History on the Subscriber Home Page has not changed. I wrote Customer Service a brief email saying to call me tomorrow with some information and explained if they fail to do...

    Newbie (really Newbie) Questions

Hmmm, hadn't thought of that. I haven't really checked out the offerings yet from Comcast but that may be a good compromise. I really have been happy with E* over the years but after sitting here for the better part of three years with an HD-ready TV I'd like to see what HD looks like on it...
