    First time subscriber needs advice

John, Dish is considering migrating some or all of the HD over to the Dish 500 satellites. Depending on what they decide to move over and when they decide to do it, very soon you might not require a second dish to get most or all of the available HD programming. What exactly they are going to...

    New Customer 811 + DVR?

You can get an 811 & DVR combo in DHP for an extra $99 or a 2 year commitment.

    HD and PVR... 2 rooms

Try another CSR. There are three PVR/HD combos available in DHP. They require an extra $99 or a two year commitment. they are: 811/522 811/510/322 811/522/301 The roll out of the new DHP has been very confusing, but these options are listed in the latest info I have. Tim

NEED HELP with this Installation Setup!!!

I agree with TheaterWizard and would only add that Dish will pay for the DP adapters you need when you get the superdish upgrade.

FLASH: Dish 322 and 522 Release Dates Announced!

Just like any new product there will be a supply problem at first as they ramp up the manufacturing process. While the 322's and 522's are in short supply DISH is going to use them as bait to hook new customers. From a corporate standpoint this makes sense - just look how their stock was...

Is there a CC chat here on Monday?

I think the chat has been moved to Wednesday.

Hooking up into a satellite box on the outside of house?

I believe your two choices are (1) to run a second cable to your 2 tuner location or (2) wait for the DP44+ switch coming next year, which will have the ability to "stack" the signal for 2 tuners on one cable.
  8. T

Can the DP34 switch be pole mounted ?

I believe there is a supply problem, and they are prioritizing cities with SuperDISH locals. A whole truck load was delivered in Albany, NY today - all sold before they hit the ground. Tim

    Does Dish 500 + single 105 dish = SuperDish

You're right. Apparently the extra wide dish is necessary to more sharply focus the lower power signal and to isolate it from possible interfering satellites which in FSS are only separated by 2 degrees (vs. 9 degrees for DBS)

    Hot! Hot! Super DISH

According to Dish Network fact sheet - the Super Dish antenna is "just over 20" high x just under 36"wide."

Bye Dish 500, hello SuperDish: Cabling/switch questions

Won't there be a DP 34 switch between the Superdish and the receiver? (Three cables into switch from each LNB and two cables out to the 522)

Exclusive: Superdish a SatelliteGuys First Look!

I think the upcoming 44 switch will not require the DP adapter to work with legacy receivers.

Exclusive: Superdish a SatelliteGuys First Look!

Apparently not. This was something I hoped for, but I was told that the KuFSS LNB has to be located at the sweet spot centered on the feed arm in order to keep the dish as small as possible. The lower power requires it.

    Mounting the SuperDish

I see what you guys are saying about satellite spacing, etc. As I think about the two obviously different mock ups we have seen, it looks like DISH has taken a look at both scenarios we are discussing (one appears to have a traditional looking twin and the other has that oddball one). The...

    Mounting the SuperDish

Stay tuned...more info on SuperDISH was promised at the Baltimore Team Summit later this week. I believe, however that the twin would remain pointed at 110 and 119 with the ku-FSS LNB on one side to point at 105 (a little farther east) or on the other side to point at 121 (a little farther...

    SuperDish spec sheet out yet?

Dish has been promising more information at the Baltimore Team Summit for retailers next week.

    Mounting the SuperDish

That won't be a problem, Phil. DBS Installers have been adapting to big dish and prime star poles for years. I've seen solutions that are home-made and ones sold by third parties. Somebody will quickly come up with a solution for this one. It sounds like you have a good solid mount - metal...

    Mounting the SuperDish

You might be right about that. It would simplify things for the consumer, but it would also raise manufacturing and inventory issues for DISH. If you look at the mock-ups of SuperDISH it looks like there is a standard Dishpro twin LNB with the third LNB held out to the side on a bracket. I...
  22. T

    Mounting the SuperDish

Another consideration here is that SuperDISH is going to come in 2 flavors - one will have the third LNB looking at 105, the other will have it looking at 121 depending on the programming choice. (HD & locals at 105, international programming at 121, I think) That will neccesitate a means of...

    Mounting the SuperDish

You are absolutely right about that! In fact I think it will be a very similar installation to the StarBand antenna with the DISH LNB's. The easiest way to aim that configuration is to make sure everything is plumb and the elevation and skew are set correctly, then find the Echostar birds...

Does this gentleman know what he is talking about?

It seems that the monitors cannot receive OA Local high-def programming independent of the Echostar receivers. OA standard definition works fine. Is that your understanding Scott? Tim

    Mounting the SuperDish

The weight is not going to be an issue with SuperDISH. The larger dish is going to catch more wind and therefore transfer more force to whatever surface or object it is mounted. The increase in these forces is why it has a beefed up pipe, mount, etc. For this same reason, it will be even more...
