    STB Reboot

Looks like I have this resolved. My Sony LCD came with an Internet appliance for streaming music, checking the weather, etc. I had it in in between the TV and Onyo receiver (HDMI). It must have caused some sort of feedback because after I removed it, the STB reboots stopped. My recording...

    922 no conflict?

That is exactly what I have been seeing (see my SBT Reboot Thread). If you go back and look at the daily schedule for the event, does it show "Stopped by STB Reboot"?

    STB Reboot

I'll try swapping the HDMI cable but I am not ready to go back to component and optical. My 522 is still working lilke a champ (HDMI) and recording the show fine when the 922 bombs.

    STB Reboot

Maybe the initial installation was bad? I have a single coaxial feed from the dish to a splitter at the receiver. The splitter has two feeds - one for TV1; one for TV2. Please see the pictures - is this setup correctly?

    STB Reboot

I thought of that but none of the appliances lost power. I even moved to a different outlet when I pulled the unit out of the cabinet. I thought of this too but the reboots seem to happen only when recording events and the unit is off; nothing should be hitting the HDMI cable. Looks like...

    STB Reboot

Looks the like HDD high temp is 129 and the low 111. Average 122. Are those numbers in the acceptable range?

    STB Reboot

I moved the unit out of the cabinet and set it out in open air. HDMI and other cables still reach. Is there a temperature threshold I should keep in mind? I remember seeing a temp on the hard drive but not for the system board.

    STB Reboot

Thanks for the reply, Lakebum. I thought of that - I am in an enclosed cabinet but I leave the door open and have an exhaust fan. The tech folks @ Dish told me that if it were overheating, I would be getting an different error message. I am not sure if that is true. Just to be sure, is...

    STB Reboot

I am on my 3rd 922 for the same exact symptom so I find it difficult to blame the unit. Around 50% of the time, a timed recording will end abruptly due to "STB Reboot". I have not experienced this anomaly while watching TV and it does not occur with any regularity. Half of the timers are...

    SlingPlayer 2.0 (compatable) -link

Amen. I really don't understand what they have to gain with this scope of control. No doubt their servers will become overloaded. It infuriates me that I must rely on my slow WAN upstream speeds when I have gigabit LAN throughout the house. Internet speeds should be irrelevant.

922 - 2 Questions: Dish Pass and Recording Folders

I can't seem to figure out how to do the old "Dish Pass". For example, on the 522 I had a search set up for "Arizona Wildcats". Whenever my team was playing, the game would get recorded regardless of time or channel. I created a folder for storing recorded programs but want to rename or...

The Official "Yay I got my 922 installed" thread.

Much of the same here. Told I was install #5 in Tucson. Remote programming also done at the end. I made it easy for the installer - had all the cables (HDMI, Cat5e, RG6) all wired and ready to go when he arrived. Only snafu is it took a while for the guide to download. Tech told me...

    Dish Pass Help

Thanks for the suggestion but no luck. It seems the description, "Sports", is invisible because I once again get every episode of the magazine show. "Arizona Illustrated" on PBS. It seems what I have now is best. Thanks for your help! - Flappy

    Dish Pass Help

Unfortunately, the info, "Sports. Scheduled: Arizona at Washington (Subject to programmer's schedule change)" doesn't help much. The games are on different channels on different days of the week at different times. If I search for "Arizona," I get dozens of shows, none of which are the...

    Dish Pass Help

I am trying to setup Dish Pass to record all the University of Arizona men's home and away basketball games. I have come close but get other games such as Arizona State and women's games. What criteria do you folks recommend for the search? Here is the info for the game this afternoon...

    Cleaning computer's inside

I use a shop vac and clean mine regularly. Dusty heatsinks = more heat and more stress on the components. Shop vacs are great - one side sucks and the other side blows. :D - Flappy

    digital sound

I have found that most of the audio broadcast on Dish is PCM. I have not experienced any DD 5.1 or DTS on any regular "America's Top-120" channels; it seems to be limited to some Pay-Per-View channels and a few subscription channels. - Flappy

    Whole house video distrubution

There are a couple of different kids of amps you can buy, I am using an inline amplifier from Radio Shack. It seems to work pretty well but I am sure there are others out there that are cheaper. Just keep in mind that you do not want to amplify the DC Pass through the diplexers; you should...

    Whole house video distrubution

Keep your cable modem line as pure as possible; you are better off using a single splitter to separate your Internet feed from your TVs. You can always add another splitter for the TV feeds and amp the signal there if needed. The feed to your Cable Modem should never be amped and if you are...

    dual tuner 522 install

That is how mine is setup and you are right, TV2 picture quality suffers a little. I found that an in-line amp helps quite a bit.
