    Audio problems - Atlanta - CH 36/46

Is anyone else having problems with audio on WGCL or WATL? When watching the HD channels, I get only a LFE channel unless it is national programming. When doing straight through DD 5.1 decoding it's just bass rumble. If I enhance the 5.1 with echo or run it through a DSP, I get a really...

Single Wire Multiswitch in general use yet?

New installs, sure. But what about people who already have a dish or legacy equipment? Unless we wait another (insert timeframe here) for the SWM, we will have to buy the new dish and most will have to fork out the $79 for an install.

Single Wire Multiswitch in general use yet?

You're looking at a $79 install fee, plus the cost of the dish, plus the time taken that you could be doing other stuff to stay home waiting for them. I don't see how that can be cheaper or more convenient. With a SWM, I can just go into the attic, cut the four drops and splice in the SWM-8...

Single Wire Multiswitch in general use yet?

They've been in testing for over a year. I was told in Oct 06 that they would be available "soon". I had to deactivate a D11 to get a 2nd line to the new HR20 with the full intent of reactivating it when the (as it was known back then) FTM was available. I finally got fed up and paid the...

Single Wire Multiswitch in general use yet?

All these places are greymarket. I've ready of a guy who was able to get one by telling a "real" supplier he was a small MDU operator. I think he paid something like $218 for the whole thing...SWM and PS. Have you vasoline ready dealing with the above mentioned places. :)

Staff Members ONLY getting referral $$$

Just saw the thread where it was posted to PM a staff member to get a referral. Is it really fair that THEY get the all the $50 per referral payments without leaving it open to all the members of the board? wonder how long it will take this thread to be locked or deleted? :) Just food...

Access card linked to its receiver?

I think he's talking about pulling an access card to use in the garage and then moving it back after he's done.

Single Wire Multiswitch in general use yet?

What sux is that with the Slimline/SWM some people will need a professional install, where with a SWM it's simply a matter of splicing into some cables in the attic. :(

    Direcpath- No HD!

How are you getting full coverage with only a single LNB and single coax with no multiswitch?
  10. D

    Whatever happened to the FTM???

It sux that DirecTV has screwed the "early adopters" who are stuck with a non-upgradable AT-9 dish. My chase is complete full and there's no way for me to run another cable down to the family room. I have to believe the SWM units available in the retail channel are being marked up a...

    HR20 Connect to Internet

The HR20 *does not* need any ports forwarded back to it from the FW. It does not listen for incoming unsolicited connections. It only initiates outbound connections which should not be blocked by your FW or ISP.

D* puts HD on back burner?

As long as it's before June 21, it technically is Spring. :)

    Providers catching it over HD

I remember reading somewhere that a good number (30-40% maybe?) of HD owners THINK they are getting HD when they aren't even running off of an HD signal. People upgrade from an old style tube set and automatically assume they're getting HD because the "picture is SO much better than our 10 year...

    Providers catching it over HD

Unfortunately, Kim Kommando is a lot of talk and not much substance. I'm not sure many technology professionals take her seriously. Some of the advice she's given is beyond laughable. I take anything she says with a grain of salt.

    Directv Charlie Chat?

I think DTV would be the "Dave Chat" :)

    New HR20-700 installed.. NOT HAPPY!

When I had my AT9 installed, the guy was a little dense, but professional. Brought the old Ph-3 dish down in good enough condition that I told it and my old Sammy 360 on eBay. :)

    Bad reception on 68/78

I am having big problems on the Atlanta/Dekalb Comcast system. On Chs 68 and 78 (analog, obviously) I get really bad reception. Other channels are great. I have a 3.5/3.5 splitter outside the house for my HSI, and a 4 way 7/7/7/7 splitter in the attic. I was told my signal level at the outside...

Got my HD DNS Shut off Notice, anyone else ?

If your NBC isn't available in HD through DTV, I don't think they'll shut you off until it is.... I got my cutoff notice for Fox-E. Nov 1.

    Universal HD

I called to complain and got $5 off my HD package for 6 months.

    Atlanta HD locals (sub channels)

2.2 used to have ABC news, but no longer. I like 11.2 and being able to see the local weather instantly. I kind of miss the old 24/7 live sweep weather radar that used to be on Cable 2 when it was Prime Cable back in the 80s.

Where can I buy the cheapest HR20?

The advantage of going with DTV is that while they'll insist you get an installation, you could probably negotiate a better price. Mine was $15 out of pocket. The installer dropped the box off, left me 150' of RG6 and compression connectors, and left. :)

What sat/xpdrs should I check for Atlanta LIL? Thanks!

Installer to fish from attic to basement - 2 Story house

Well, talked to a shooting buddy of mine who runs an electrical contracting company. He's gonna come out and fish the line for me and then we'll enjoy some hidef sports and beer. :) I didn't even think about him when I was planning this. Guess I didn't equate commercial electric...

    Survivor not in HI-DEF

Big Brother would probably be the easiest show of all to do in HD. All are remote fixed position cameras that tilt, pan, etc.

    Rain fade on HD locals

Does anyone experience rain fade more often on the HD locals than on normal programming? My signals are 95+ normally, but the locals will fade even though the "normal" channels are fine.
