More than likely they won't use SWM for a customer with only 3 boxes being connected up.

Most don't just buy a new one when a 2 year old TV flakes out. It makes a hell of a lot more sense to spend a little money to at least get a repairman to try and see what's wrong with it first.

I've got an HR20 and it's been fine after the recent update.

I live in MN and I've never had to clean off snow or ice in the 13 years I've had DIRECTV.

I don't think DIRECTV was out of line. I thought I heard that right now SWM is only installed for new customers that need 6 or more tuners for the installation. You can't just call up DIRECTV one day and say - Sent me the SWM equipment, or Sent out a tech. to switch me over to SWM. I know...

This is stupid. I'm sure most people will just keep on using their equipment until they get a lot of interference. I doubt they'll be putting anyone in prison over this.

The "no available bandwidth" issue is just something people say. Now that the NFLST is pretty much over with for a while I'm sure they have some bandwidth back if they were totally maxed out, which I really doubt they were in the first place. They just don't feel like adding FOX SOCCER CHANNEL...

Here's what stonecold said - Way it supposed to work is if your in an area not serviced by locals through us you can have 1 free am21. Either with or without discounted OTA install . Any tuners past that well are 50. Not sure why they did not mention it ..... Unless there was som reason why...

Nice rambling, but it's probably just a glitch of some kind. I've had TiVo DVRs and DIRECTV DVRs for years and years and years and I've never once been unable to record a program due to copyright issues.

If you're putting the dish up for her, get a slimline because she'll probably get HD someday, ya never know, even if now she says NO HD, things change.

I remember when comcast said something to effect of - we'll buy your dish for $300. In the fine print it said $3 off your comcast bill each month for 100 months.
