I have a DM04B090 (DM04B09050101) which has a LG tuner. IMHO the LG tuner is way better than the sharp tuner :rolleyes:

In your version of the mod, you do not have a decoupling capacitor, and the DC is still traveling inside the tuner. I haven't tried it yet and i don't have information whether it is good or bad. However, because of the high frequencies, generally it is not a good idea to mess with the tuner...

Since i have replaced the L101 with shielded one, I can see no difference with or without the case. Before the replacement some programs from specific transponders were impossible to watch with the case on.

If i put the coil in series with D105, there is no improvement. So I suspect a problem with the inner layout of the small sized Sharp tuner.

The values of the capacitor and the inductor are not critical. In my case the capacitor is 220nF and the inductor have 7 turns with inner diameter of 3mm. I know that this is not the right way - it was just an experiment showing where the problem is.

There is experimental linux driver (part of the v4l). It recognizes the box in cold state, uploads the firmware, but it does not (yet) recognizes the frontend. You can find the driver here. I live in Finland, and my dish setup is Ku :)

If your QQ-box is connected directly to the LNB (without motor, etc.), the current consumption is not likely to be greater than 100-150ma max. In that case you can try with smaller inductor, rated for 0.29A. :rolleyes:

I used exactly the same shielded coil as the TDK one on the picture, salvaged from old printer. The coil fits ok, the only problem was that the coil is SMD. I had to solder two smal pieces of wire in order to solder the coil in place.:up

The problem is caused by L101. This inductor is responsible for making 13/18V power for LNB. If the QQ-box works fine without the enclosure, you have to replace the original coil with 220uH shielded one, rated for at least 0.45A. In my QQ-box i have used TDK-type shielded power inductor like...
