    Any fall FTA projects?

    1. Turn the buttonhook around, re-adjust feed 2. Install the feed cover (sooner or later SOMETHING's going to get into the feed sitting bare like it is now) 3. Guy the feed (still trying to figure out how I'm going to get a string up to and through the top of the dish)

    GI DSR-4000 ?

I've got one of these. It's tricky to program but works pretty well altogether. Some info I've assembled: Using the General Instrument DSR 4000 as a free-to-air satellite TV receiver

What do you use with your tv?

Been playing with OTA since I picked up a PC ATSC tuner in 2003. Have a CM4228 UHF antenna on the roof and a Delhi VIP307SR VHF antenna on a 30ft tower. The BUD went up this spring. Mom & Dad have had cable since the early 90's but switched to pizza last winter when the bill got too high. I...

    Whats your favorite FTA station?

Gotta love Classic Arts Showcase. That and NASA TV.

PBS ANNOUNCES HIGH DEFINITION FEED FOR BACKYARD DISH USERS

Well, Shepherd's Chapel is vertical and PBS is horizontal, so that mitigates most of the potential issues. Both come in good and clear on my 10 footer...

    NBC East/Central HD

We're certainly getting off-topic here, but both have pros and cons. A PC tuner is by far the most versatile option. You get access to the raw transport stream and can do basically whatever you want with it. Tons of software is available, and it's not too hard to write your own. On the other...

    NBC East/Central HD

1 MB per core. This is an old (2003) dual socket-940 machine, modern hardware would probably outperform it. I'm still trying to get hardware-accelerated video decoding to work, but ATI's Linux drivers are being a PITA. Nvidia's drivers are better but they don't appear to offer any AGP cards...

    NBC East/Central HD

No. They do, however, run very high bitrate H.264 video, which most FTA receivers don't support, and only the fastest PCs can decode. Even my quad-core 2.8 GHz Opteron machine can't quite keep up.

    Classic Arts @ 97W Analog

Well, I for one was ecstatic when I saw that announcement on their page last month. 133W is partially obscured by a tree, meaning sparkly analog and NO digital. Now I can lock the digital most of the time, and the analog looks fantastic. Actually, I still watch it on analog for the most part...

    bsc-621 vs DMX741

I use a BSC621-2 here. Works pretty nicely, but I'll second Anole's comment about centering the feed. I haven't yet guyed my buttonhook and often find I need to move the dish several nudges east or west to peak signals on a different band or polarization.

    tune-s2, my little linux app

Sounds like that's going to be the hard part. Also, just in case you haven't implemented it, the value for 7/8 FEC in the DCII split modes is 7. I haven't been able to find any transponders on either band using anything other than 3/4 or 7/8 FEC so I haven't figured out any others.

    tune-s2, my little linux app

Alright, we're in business! Listening to music on W5 as I type this. I did make one change to your patch: I added a "SYS_" prefix to the defines for the DCII modes, for consistency with the other definitions.

Live Near Holland Mich? Bring Your Dish In!

Oddly, I seem to have been spared the worst of it. There was a 1.5' tree down in the road just a mile northwest from me, but I only had leaves and small twigs on the ground here. The BUD is unharmed. Of course, we've still got November ahead of us. That's when we get the REAL winds...

    Antenna TV

This format seems to be a trend. I can already get MeTV (formerly a timeshared block on WFBT-CA 23) on WWME and WBME, RTV on WBAY, WLLA and WITI, and ThisTV on one or two stations, I forget which. WXMI is local and WGN comes in often so I'll get AntennaTV on those - if I can't find it with the...

    tune-s2, my little linux app

I anxiously await your patch. :) Were any modifications needed to the driver itself, or just the DVB header?

    tune-s2, my little linux app

Well, this is a bit off-topic, but I just picked up a Genpix SkyWalker-2 (basically the SkyWalker-1 without the chassis) and I'm trying to write some software of my own to control it. I've got DVB-S working (as well as DVB-S2 on my other tuner), but I can't seem to figure out how to get DCII to...
