I installed many HR34s from before it was called Genie and before Mini Genie clients existed. They are not a bad box, but they function at the speed of an HR20. Super Slow and laggy. Non Responsive, and then three commands at once. Not a good user experience when compared to the HR44.

I think the issue is with Google TV. Google TV tries to communicate with the HR34 over the HDMI, and it is locking up the HR34. Google TV will actually control a DISH receiver via the HDMI.

Another Suggestion. Instead of using the little whip antenna provided with the receiver switching to a bowtie UHF antenna at your entertainment center will get you much improved range Aim it at your remote tv locations.
