    Best Current Offer

Sure......during ordering process to get promo rates you often are told you have to process a rebate to get monthly discounts for 1st and 2nd year. If you don't do so prior to install rebates will still apply but may not kick in until your 3rd bill. You still get discounts for length of time...

    Best Current Offer

If you have to process rebates prior to installation to get promo rates your best bet is to do so just prior to tech starting installation. If he shows up and his work order doesn't reflect exactly what you ordered then it is much easier to get w. order changed prior to processing rebates than...

Also Iceberg, as I'm sure you know, your SWM goodies need to be Green Label. They of course will upgrade that if needed. Plenty of R22s out there playing the MRV game as long as your 23 is in the loop.....haven't heard of or seen a case that one of the DVRs has to be "true" HD for it to work...

    Dish help

IF the shop is only 100 ft or so away, burying the right cable (solid copper center conductor burial cable) would probably be your best bet. At that distance it should work just fine. No dish expense and alignment hassles, no dish configuration changes to make, etc. If burial cable not...

lost caller Id on 2 of my receivers

I personally don't care about it not working at home...when i had a home phone it seemed to work though. As an installer my issue is with receivers not calling back, effecting my connectivity numbers which effects my paycheck.

    Realigning Dish

Pretty sure there is a 30 day waiting period after asking for the PPlan before you can use it. (With the exception of signing up at time of install) Otherwise you would never have to keep it. You could sign up-get a service call in a few days, have anything fixed for no charge and cancel it.

What were the kids playing with, a bazooka? If it was mounted properly there is no way you could knock it off the house without doing considerable damage to it.

Searching for SAT on certain HD channels on all HD units

DO let us know what he found. He may well throw several things at it at once- which sometimes makes it difficult to tell what exactly fixed it. Usually not time to do single "fixes", bring receiver back up (reset necesary sometimes)-replace another part/check..replace another/check. If he pulls...

Searching for SAT on certain HD channels on all HD units

Alignment not what it should be as Hutch says, but those 0s on every other transponder on 103c indicate a cabeling or connector problem. Likely that those channels that you are seeing SFS on are on those transponders.

    Receiver Temperature

A less expensive fan could be used if it could be installed remotely-allowing air to be removed from the cabinet through a duct of sorts. Similar fans can be purchased for $10 or less from surplus equip. dealers. Heat is the enemy of all things electronic.

Need to know what the beg white X's inside red box mean

Those lower than optimum signal strengths are probably going to make rain fade occur sooner and last longer as well. As far as "all channels available amd picture quality tops"...that's the way it works...higher signal strengths are not going to improve pic quality. Enough signal above...

Need to know what the beg white X's inside red box mean

Going with Hutch on this one. The red Xs are saying the receiver didn't pass Installation Verification. Signal strengths may be high enough for the receiver to work fine under most conditions, but they aren't as high as they should/could be. Activate a new receiver in this neck of the woods...

Cutting the cord unless overwhelmed by retention....

Had a NLOS install a while back (apartment facing wrong way/patio mounting only). Customer showed me her Comcast bill-basic rate wasn't bad but followed by an extensive list of fees/taxes that made the price crazy high. Don't know if that is the norm, but I would be very suspicious of what is...

Question about 72 local swap: free HD replacement?

The techs work order will have him install a Slimline dish if you don't have one already. Here plenty of folks had a combination of HD and SD receivers operating on 2 round dishes. Some had a Slimline and the round 72.5 dish for locals on however many SD receivers they had. If you don't...

New to Direct TV (Install Question)

A plan like that will have you back here with lots more questions.....the right dish (or dishes)/the lnb(s) necessary for your programming needs/good cabeling installed by a tech that does it every day is a wiser plan.

What to do with old dishes on the roof when switching to DTV

If a customer mentions some hand cash...that Dish dish is coming down. Bases definately left in place. Removed lots of round D* dishes as we transitioned from 72.5 for local channels upgrade. Found enough of them with bolts rusted badly enough that nuts would not come off when heads of the...

PP verbage kind of leaves situations like natural disasters to D*'s discretion........was told today by D* CSR that those customers who suffered damage to their systems during that bad bout of tornadoes in Alabama were well taken care of regardless of whether they had the PP or not. Accts were...

    Phone line required?

Installers are required to connect a certain % of receivers installed (usually 40-45%) or THEY get charged by D*. D* wants you to have easiest possible access to PPV (with remote from recliner) as a revenue generator. Getting tougher as Jimbo mentioned...fewer and fewer landlines found.

    Pole Size question

Don't know how it works in other areas but our QC people won't pass any type of modification to an 1 5/8" mast or pole done to accept a Ka/Ku dish. Ain't saying it can't be done with the right stuff and be made sufficiently stable...works better with masts than poles. The smaller poles are...

If I hook ethernet up I lose "Whole House DVR"

Connecting an eth. line to your DVR will disable MRV in a DTV supported setup. (Broadband Deca installed). Usually restoring it requires jumping through a couple of hoops. 1st remove that ethernet cable from the DVR then unplug from from the wall or from the back of the receivers the 110 volt...
