    When will it end?

With the explosion of different internet streaming services these days, I cut my cable cord altogether. Now I have my cable internet & a couple pay sites that I watch. Even they have free options (add commercials and/or delayed access to new episodes). Really I just realized that I watched very...

    Dish Net services.

Input from a tech/installer of the "new" dishnet. Like everyone has said, Dish is just rebranding services. Depending on your area it will be either exede/viasat, hughesnet Spaceway, or Hughesnet Jupiter. All 3 run different satellites. Exede & Jupiter have the highest speeds that I've seen. To...

Ideas to get sling content from my home DVR to my TV in my apartment

Even easier solution IMO, get an HDMI long enough to reach your couch, connect the laptop, & simy use the TV as a secondary screen. I do it all the time on my desktop & did it on my laptop before I got rid of it. Not sure where to access the display settigns in Win8 as I absolutely refuse to...

Cancel just for a free upgrade?

If I recall, the ipad promo is for new customers only. They have to qualify for the Plus or Elite new installs (not sure what qualifies as Elite since there's also normal & bad credit installs). Also, the ipad is in leue of the normal New Customers pricing. Basically you just start out at full...

Help with 1000.4 eastern arc... Cannot get 61.4

It might sound silly & obvious, but what transponder are you on when you're getting the wrong satellite message? If you forgot which transponders to check, go into the Diagnostics send status screen (menu>6>3 if I recall). Also, if the 61.5 comes up on a check switch test, then you are indeed...

How to select multiple airings from same show to delete at once?

Try going under the grey Edit button. Select the shows or episodes you want gone, then hit the delete button. If I recall you can do this in personal folders but not in specific show folder (sort by title if I recall)

    Node laying on ground

As an RSP in iowa, I get to live in that grey area no mans land of not in house (no inhouse techs in iowa), but not full contractor. We know the retail offices that do shoddy work & advise our customers to avoid going to them unless its something they MUST have like RIGHT NOW due to the quality...

Creative way to reach Dish CEO

lets also keep in mind, that IF E* called to offer an upgrade like this, they would be asking for the Reciever number from the menu; if anything they'd be asking for the security PIN or some other verification. The reciever numbers already show in your account. God I love Phishing techniques...

    qpsk and 8psk

For the converted 512s, the tv2 RF out is not active. I've tried. Side note, I like to think of the 512 (& 612 for that matter) as having 1.5 tuners. You can record 2 shows at once but not do PiP like the 722/625 in solo mode. Also, both need seperators w dpp or 2 lines. If it was an older quad...

    Hopper / Joey Remotes

Most often techs are not given individual remotes. You can ask when he gets there, but I doubt he'll have any short of robbing another reciever. Also, if you order from dish, make sure they actually ship them if you order BEFORE your install. I've had customers claim the sales rep said I'd be...

    Can you go both ways?

I do know that Dish has partnered with a DSL company (centurylink I think) to provide DishNet DSL in select areas (certain parts of 68134 & 50022 I know of for sure in my AO). Satellite side, yes there's some extreme caps. I generally recommend it for Rural/Farm houses where their only other...

    Hopper Conflict question

For same day replays of new episodes, check the guide data to see if it still has the "New Episode" tag. I know for BBC & SyFy (both notorious for same-day new episode replays), the replay will still have the "New" tag & I still catch it in case there's ever a conflict. Of course, I'm a little...

    Snap noise

Double check what kind of sound setting the surround can handle. By default the Hopper puts out Dolby/PCM with auto volume leveling (menu>settings>audio if I recall, not at tv ATM). Try turning off the leveling or settings to PCM only. After you change the settings, do a simple power on/off for...

How well do 2 hoppers integrate?

Well its not that different in theory. Depending on what kind of processor the Hoppers have (don't recall off hand), trying to process & then stream the data can be quite a work load for any single or dual core chip.

DISH says Give Customers What They Want

THANK YOU! I'm glad I'm not the only one that does that. People will sit in line burning gas for ever just to "save" 5 min of walking in. Hell, most of the time I'm in & out before the last person in drive thru is even up to the window during lunch rush.

DISH says Give Customers What They Want

My favorite is the bogus damage claims involving parts of the home no where near any art of the system I installed (Most recent: "my roof is leaking now. Fix it" / "But Sir, your dish is on a pole & all the wiring is on the lowest level of your house...")

Trying to control a soundbar and TV with DISH remote

Nope, pretty sure you hit every step. I do this with my tv & sound bar at home. They're both lower end devices so box has hdmi to tv & optical to soundbar. I just have to press Aux to power my bar on/off then Sat back to main controls. Hopper is SUPER easy to program remotes now.

"Interactive Software Loading" freezing on non hopper receivers

Something I've seeing more & more on non hopper receivers is the Interactive Software trying to load right out of the box (or customers changing to it without knowing what it is), only to have it essentially freeze up the tv. When you try to go to the menu, guide, etc, it just flashes the...

Can a western arc lnbf be used on an eastern arc dish?

So in summary, yes the DISH portion can be used. However the LNB needs to be either EA or WA due to the spacing to get optimal signal. 1.4 does have an EA LNB, but its only primarily used for Latino packages (at least in Midwest).

    Signal Problem with 119/110/129

It does aound like you are too far east if your D500 is picking up 129 at all. As a rule of thumb, I point most of my dishes using the 119 & move the dish from east to west, starting from outside the satellite window (no signal at all). Also try covering up the 110 lens while you're pointing so...

    Dish remote acting up

I know when batteries are first put into the 40. Series remotes, fhere is an internal bootup the remote does before it works, hence the alternating mode flashing. Sou.ds like your batteries might be not sitting like they should. Try changing the batteries first, otherwise sounds like you might...

What are my chances of getting a Dish technician to setup my LNB with all three cables...?

Another issue is the QC checks on technicians. I know my QC person will fail my install if I don't use "Dish approved" cable (supposed to replace cable from most D* installs with our cable). Also if I recall, the black cable we use has a certain UV rating to resist cracking from the elements &...
