    Any Word On Setanta Sport??

For the sake of one channel, no sane person would buy the $180 Globecast brand new equipment! Again, that's a very piss poor excuse for not doing any research for $60 used Globecast equipment. Of course, such research should be done months before the EPL season began. I did mine last summer, in...

    Taking Dish to Australia

That is not true. Western South America (Chile, Peru) has the same longitude as Eastern U.S., but they cannot receive Dish Network signals either, because Dish signals are spot beam to Conus, with only a little spillover to Mexico and Canada. That said, I have heard of people in Venezuela...

    Any Word On Setanta Sport??

I really don't understand you guys. You are scrambling to get Setanta Sports. You are a Dish Network sub. Yet you whine about why it's impossible to switch to DirecTV. You even ponder the possibility of watch Setanta over your broadband (ITVN). Yet Setanta can be had a la carte, with just a...

    1.2 Meter Microbud Users

If you are into MLB or NBA, I strongly recommend it. The backhauls of MLB and NBA on C-band IA6, IA5 and G4 are easily receivable, using an analog receiver, 1.2M dish and a C-band LNBF for offset dish (from EITS). I managed to get a few games at the end of the past NBA season. Too bad I...

    Globecast System Comments?

There is something funny about the Globecast receiver. Among all the FTA receiving device I have (DMT 1000, Globecast, Twinhan 1050A), the Globecast receiver is the only one that gets me Azteca 7 & 13 on IA6. None of the other devices can lock the signal.

    Minimum size for C-band Dish?

Just to get analog sport backhauls, a 4" (1.2M) is adequate. I hooked up the C-band LNBF on my 4' back in April, and just managed to get some NBA backhauls on IA-6 C-band before the end of the season. The video has a few sparkles, but definitely watchable.

    Any Word On Setanta Sport??

You would be very disappointed by Setanta. Setanta's commentators for the World Cup are probably very knowledgeable about fussball, but they'll deliver it in German. ESPN/ABC owns the English rights in the U.S. Setanta owns many other languages, and they choose to broadcast the German one...

Getting LatinAmerican Directv in the US

Since when did DirecTV Mexico become a merger? merged with whom?

Getting LatinAmerican Directv in the US

How did you get your receiver? I presume you activated service in Costa Rica. When you did that, didn't they install a dish and an LNBF for you? That's the LNBF you need. If that LNBF cannot be removed (e.g. someone else need it to get signals in Costa Rica), I suggest you go to the local...

Getting LatinAmerican Directv in the US

People have been getting DirecTV Colombia in NYC with a 1.8M dish. The furthest north that I've heard that can get Latin American DBS signal is Chicago, but I forget whether it's DirecTV Latin America or Sky Mexico (from PAS9). DirecTV Latin America is different from DirecTV Para Todos. DirecTV...

    Galaxy 3c for direct tv

Folks, DirecTV Latin America works in the USA. Just take the LNBF you have from Costa Rica, you can get signal in the U.S., except you need a bigger dish. The standard dish they use in Costa Rica, the 18", won't work in most of America, except in Miami. I live in the Bay Area. I can get...

    They win. I give up.

Ooops, me bad. I subbed to Dish 6 years ago, and my knowledge to Dish is still at the SWxx, Dish 500, dual LNB level... I haven't kept up with the latest and greatest equipment from Echostar, since I am subbing to Starchoice right now...

    They win. I give up.

Check out Ebay, an SW44 costs as low as $32 for "buy it now", plus $13 shipping. If I were you, I would rather have eaten the cost of the SW44, bought it from Ebay, and got this thing over with, instead of spending 3 months arguing with Dish Network over the phone... You have been paying for...

    Any Word On Setanta Sport??

I've watched games involving ALL the SPL teams. All the teams you mentioned, I've watched in SPL coverage: Aberdeen X Celtic, Aberdeen X Rangers Hearts X Celtic, Hearts X Rangers Dundee United X Celtic, Dundee United X Rangers Kilmarnock X Celtic, Kilmarnock X Rangers Hibernian X Celtic...

    Any Word On Setanta Sport??

I would be very ticked if ESPN shows both games on the semi-final. I pay $12/month for Setanta USA exactly for the privileges of watching Barcelona X Milan that you guys can't watch it for free on ESPN2 (after paying your cable bill). If Setanta charge us $12/month but everyone with basic...

    Any Word On Setanta Sport??

Setanta USA doesn't have EPL rights for the U.S. They only have the rights on re-run Man U and Chelsea games thru' MUTV and Chelsea TV, via a deal stuck with Fox Sports International. They have the rights of Rangers and Celtic games in the U.S. They air these two teams live in the weekends...

    Any Word On Setanta Sport??

If you guys are so desperate for Setanta, why don't you get DirecTV? Oh, yes, you are committed to Dish Network, and you hate DirecTV, so you would rather have no Euro soccer (especially Sky commentary of both legs of Barcelona X AC Milan) than subscribe to your hated DBS. Of course, we all...

Why isn't ESPN Deportes in the Top 180 package?

By "world sports", it means worldwide sports, not the Voom channel "WorldSports". ESPN has absolutely no reason to get into the worldwide sports market, i.e. rugby, aussie rules, gaelic, cricket, polo, handball, etc.

Why isn't ESPN Deportes in the Top 180 package?

Makes very little sense. Why does ESPN want to get into that market? It only has a niche audience. World Sports have been available in many forms: the old Fox Sports World, as well as the current Setanta Sports USA. They never managed to get out of the niche channel mode. If your argument is...

Why isn't ESPN Deportes in the Top 180 package?

Why do people still spread these misinformation about ESPN Deportes being on a Spanish package? DISH LATINO MAX is NOT a Spanish package. IT A BI-LINGUAL PACKAGE!!!! In other words, all your frequently watched English cable channels are there: ESPN, TNT, A&E, CNN, Headline News, National...

Why isn't ESPN Deportes in the Top 180 package?

There is no such message. Here in America, watching futbol in Spanish is part of the futbol-viewing culture. Remember all the World Cups in Univison/SIN and all the screaming of "Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool"?

Why isn't ESPN Deportes in the Top 180 package?

Dude, get Dish Latino Max. This is the Dish Latino BI-LINGUAL package that resembles AT180, but also gives you the following soccer channels that aren't on AT180: - ESPN Deportes - Fox Sports en Espanol - GolTV (en Espanol) It also gives you the standard English channels that appear on most...

    Globecast / FTA options

All FTA receivers/PCI card can be used to get FTA programming from DBS band, i.e. Dish Network or Bell Expressvu. Just set the L.O.B. frequency to 11250 instead of the usual 10750. As PSB said, L=H & R=V I just remember it as L is closer to H and R is closer to V in the alphabets.

    Globecast / FTA options

A dual mode LNBF is nice, but it cost $77.00 (on your site), not including shipping. And using a one-dish/dual mode LNBF solution, you need an SG-2100 motor, which cost $70 with shipping from Ebay at the lowest. So we are talking about a $150-$160 solution. A 2nd dish with LNBF + DiSeQC...

    Globecast / FTA options

Globecast receiver can be used for FTA programming. I use it to get both Setanta and TV Azetca on IA6. If you want Setanta and GolTV, why bother with a motor? Get another 18" dish that points to echostar 110, a circular LNBF, and use a DiSEQC switch. It takes less than 5 minutes to setup...
