    G4TV 4DTV leaving

Always remember the foul demons who killed TechTV and replaced it with this crap channel - Comcast. I've been boycotting Comcast's evil empire ever since.

Hispasat testing 4K broadcasts to North and Central America

They've had that same content on a loop for the past 8 months. I'm excited to hear that they will finally be putting something new on there, just as I have gotten my hands on a 4K TV. ;) Seems everyone is using the TBS 6925 to get this, that's what I am using to receive it too.

    SES-3 countdown ticker

I've never had a problem with AMC 1's skew for the NBC fronthauls, at least on a 1.2m. They are so strong that they come in just fine even with the skew on your dish way off from the offset that AMC 1 requires. It's those darn NBC backhauls that usually need that extra bit of signal strength...

Hispasat testing 4K broadcasts to North and Central America

So since you are the uplinker, do you know what it is about your feed that you are doing differently from normal DVB-S2 8PSK feeds that prevents most tuners from being able to tune it properly yet? Because Prof tuners and the cheaper TBS tuners do not work for it. Only people with the high end...

    125W

Wow, those are even more garish than a regular grey dish. The one with the NASA logo looks like it would be cool though. I should lease spray-painted advertising slots on my dishes.

    worthless lazy scrappers

I don't know why they would scrap a nice commercial 1.2m antenna. You could put one of those on eBay and find someone who'd pay $100+ and the shipping costs for it if you had all the parts. What a waste of gas.

Hispasat testing 4K broadcasts to North and Central America

That's a great catch alexandrerpo, thanks for the share! Did you record this in North America or Europe? SES-6 is supposed to have beams to North America, South America, Atlantic and West Europe but I have been unsuccessful in getting a peep of that signal when I've tried previously. Is it...

This will change TV again... (Live streaming)

I must say I do find it rather peculiar that these OTA networks don't just offer Internet streams of their channels themselves to bring in all those extra viewers and thus extra ad dollars. With an Internet stream you can even track viewership much more accurately than with that Nielsen trash...

Ubisoft has an Earth Shattering Revelation

That is the dumbest thing I've ever read. PC gaming is still alive today thanks to DRM. Steam is DRM and Steam saved PC gaming. DRM saved PC gaming.

Looking to grow the dish farm

There are applications you can use for any mobile device with a camera that use augmented reality overlays and GPS to pinpoint the locations of all satellites in the Clarke Belt. You can walk outside with your smartphone and point it at the sky and see right where all the satellites are and if...

Looking to grow the dish farm

It's definitely a mistake not to have at least one 1.2m or larger Ku dish. I encounter feeds that are not strong enough for my 90cm Geosatpro antenna to lock all the time. The performance gain from a 90cm -> 120cm dish is quite large.

I believe this program is broadcast in full on the fronthauls.

PlayStation 5 and next-gen Xbox might launch sooner than you think

PS2 games running at 1080p look great. I prefer emulating them over the 'HD collections' on the PS3 for that very reason. The PS2 games emulated @ native 1080p on a PC look better than their 'HD remasters' on the PS3 running @ native 720p and resolution is the sole reason. Are you kidding...

PlayStation 5 and next-gen Xbox might launch sooner than you think

I sure hope so. The Xbone and PS4 are underpowered piles of crap. They can't even do native 1080p60 which I think we were all expecting to be the marker of 'next-gen'. And of course the Wii U is essentially a Fisher Price toy at this point. I've been doing 1080p 60 FPS on my PC for over six...

Looking to grow the dish farm

Those 90cm's are definitely sufficient for G19 and G3C. The international channels on there are very strong. You could get them with a 76cm I'd bet. However I would say you should get a 90cm and motorize it so you can move around between the G19 and G3C and also one of those 1.2m's and stick a...

Is Hispasat Worth Parking 1 Meter Or Leave On Amc1 (currently Parked)?

Man, who knew one opinion would spark so much butthurt. LOL That's what the Internet is for. Pretty much this. I don't speak Spanish and airings of American movies on a standard definition TV channel that are available in high definition via Blu-ray and/or the Internet are useless to me...

Is Hispasat Worth Parking 1 Meter Or Leave On Amc1 (currently Parked)?

There's nothing of interest on Hispasat. It's all in standard definition from what I saw the last time I checked it out.

12 Foot Vs 10 Foot Dishes...

32APSK signals need a 12ft dish or even bigger. You can't even lock them with a 10ft. A 8ft dish won't cut it for all the DVB-S2 signals that pop up either if you want completely error-free reception. Also, there are no more worthwhile "residential uses" for C-band. We all want C-band dishes...

Watch Dogs Trailer With Release Date

    Should I Switch From Cable?

That is not true at all. A CableCARD setup offers even more whole home DVR functionality than a cable company provided DVR. The Ceton InfiniTV 6 or HDHomeRun Prime can be controlled from any unit connected to the network in the home. A central PC running one of these cards can play back TV to...

    Should I Switch From Cable?

I don't even know what you are trying to say here. What's with all the "oks" ? H.264 is only about twice as efficient as MPEG-2 under optimal conditions. Real-time re-encoding are not optimal conditions. A 4-6 Mbps bitrate using H.264 is still inferior to a 12-14 Mbps bitrate using MPEG-2...
