    The YouTube TV Thread

I am currently running a 1 month comparison with Dish and my H3 to see if I will be dropping Dish. Watched the whole event on YTTV, I had zero issues and it streamed and looked great.

    Winding down with Dish

Every morning when I turn on the TV for the past week I see that my wife has been using the FireTV (for Hulu & Netflix) and not the Joey. My credits expire in April, who knows maybe I will finally be "trimming" the cord.

With a Hopper 3, do I have to have a Joey for every TV??

To get what you seem to have now I would suggest; A Hopper 3 on living room TV. A Joey 4 connected to an RF modulator (it won't be HD) feeding your other TV's. A FireStick (though I prefer the FireTV) with Dish Anywhere for your guest room (or can be moved whenever/where ever you may want), this...

    HBO/Cinemax Takedown

Per Scott's post, "AT&T is demanding DISH pay for a guaranteed number of subscribers, regardless of how many consumers actually want to subscribe to HBO".

REMINDER: HBO Special Price Ending 9/20

Pricing ended so I just cancelled HBO. Showtime is next as I have it bundled (with Hulu) in my son's student Spotify account for $5/month.

    Wireless Joey questions

Unfortunately it is currently only on the FireTV devices. But I have had good luck with it, I replaced a Joey on my kitchen TV and have added it to other TVs, even taking a Fire TV on vacation and using it our hotel room.

    Wireless Joey questions

Not sure how often you use the TV. But an option is a Firestick and Dish Anywhere app.

    Ordering Dish

I would let them know that you read on here the carbon interface is slow on the older hardware. I called to cancel due to how slow it had been, they made sure to upgrade me to a Hopper 3/Joey 3 without a new contract or up front cost. Also if you want a referral code to give us each 100...

    Hopper Issue

I agree when you call to cancel you may be offered a "free" upgrade to stay. I called to cancel in March, and was offered a Hopper 3 upgrade for free without the 2 year commitment. I was happy with the equipment upgrade (replaced Hopper1/Hopper2/Joey1 with Hopper3/Joey3), so I ended up taking a...

    Coming back to dish

Believe me you don't want to use your Hopper 1 anyway. Dish will force the Carbon GUI interface and at that point the Hopper 1 becomes painfully slow, glitchy and if you do have 2 Hoppers most of the features that makes them work together are then gone.

About to jump from DTV to Dish - questions

Anything recorded on your DVR can be watched anywhere with Dish Anywhere. I have had no problems getting discounts since I have been out of contract. My current discount is $40 off per month for 12 months, but it did come with a 12 month commitment. I was looking to "cut the cord" as it was...

I keep a broom handy so I can gently brush the snow off of the dish from the master bathroom window

    Tried to cancel

Will do, I am still in the 48 hour settle in cycle, but so far performance wise it is much better than my old setup (Hopper1, Hopper2, Joey1). It has been transferring the remaining recordings that wouldn't move to my EHD from my old Hopper2 since Sunday, but as of this morning I am finally...

    Tried to cancel

As long as the Hopper3 and Joey3 correct the issues that the CUI introduced on my original hardware configuration, and Dish continues to keep my price competitive, then yes I bet I will be around for a while.

Sorry to disappoint, but the tech is here now. I asked him to check (and show me) before starting to make sure there is no commitment, “wow, I have never seen this before, no 24 month commitment”.

    Tried to cancel

I just got done messaging with DiRT, and although there was a note to waive the commitment it was not waived. However, as of now she verified that it is waived (going forward any hardware upgrades will require a 2 year commitment). Of course I am sure that this will be moot as I am told all of...

I will be sure to fill you in when the installer comes. I will have no issue not signing and not having the equipment installed. In fact when the installer calls I will let them know that if there is a commitment involved they can save themselves the trip. :)

    Tried to cancel

The time had come to cancel Dish. My annual discounts came to an end so my bill shot up to $144. That along with all the problems and issues that the CUI has caused (Hopper1, Hopper2, Joey 1) was finally enough. I had decided to go with Playstation Vue with the Ultra package. This would give me...

HDHomeRun Announces the CONNECT DUO+ OTA DVR

Catching up with Silicon Dust, makers of the HDHomeRun "Meanwhile, a native Roku app seems out of the question, because the platform doesn’t support MPEG-2 or certain audio-decode formats that HDHomeRun uses.
