    In looking at the list of available "non-premium" channels, the only thing that really interests me is getting Smithsonian back. Of the non-movie channel HD offerings, most don't sound very compelling...I doubt that I will watch a channel that I didn't before simply because it is now available...

    With all of the publicity over the digital conversion, it's even harder for Dish to put a positive spin on losing subscribers. There is a lot of confusion over the digital conversion and Satellite and Cable providers should have all seen some added subscribers.

    I too am tired of waiting. Dish used to be the leader but Charlie & Co. have lost their way. I don't know what it's going to take for Dish to realize that it's more important than ever to add HD...HD televisions are in more homes now than ever and Dish is simply not keeping up with the times...

    Good for DirecTv. I think they have listened to their customers (and potential customers) and given them national HD. Charlie missed the boat...2008 was the year of HDTV and Dish should have been focused on National HD.

    I went to DirecTv's website and to get comparable program (with more HD) and 4 receivers (2 HD DVR, 1 HD, 1 SD) Instead of the 2 dual tuners that i have now..DirecTv would be about $15 a month cheaper....am I missing something?

    It appears that Smithsonian is no longer listed in the HD packages on DirecTv's website...is it possible that they have stopped broadcasting?

    If you go to 374 (formerly Smithsonian), they are broadcasting C&I and press info and it says "We regret to inform you DISH Network will no longer carry this channel. We are pleased to announce the launch of Crime & Investigation on channel 387"

    This is apparently a new change for Feb 1. Smithsonian HD is a Showtime channel...not a good sign. Unbelievable that Dish would drop a higher end HD channel and replace it with one that shows rebroadcasts of 48 Hours, Cold Case Files, the like.

    Statement from Dish Network on VOOM Takedown

    I have been with Dish since 1996...I had Voom for a few months before it went belly up and I agree with Dish's position on this. The VOOM channels were great when there was little other HD content...but Voom's time has come and gone...I don't think it's particularly relevant or compelling content.

    I live just west of Rocky Mount and am fortunate to receive both the Raleigh/Durham and Greenville/Washington/New Bern locals compliments of the nice antenna that VOOM gave me. The PQ on NBC 7, CW 9, CBS 9 Are nothing to write home about. The audio goes out on CW9 despite a good signal strength.

    ViP211 loses sound/picture when on over-the-air for long periods

    I have alot of issues with locals on the 211....video disappears if the signal is temporarily lost on HD channels, requiring a reboot, good signal but signal coming and going...tempted to go back to my 811.
