I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

I would take myself out of suspension, wait a week, and then call and speak with retention. For whatever reason, you tend to get nothing if you try to get a retention deal fresh out of suspension.

    All inclusive price

Well, it IS a ripoff, but only if you get the promo rate for one year. If you get the two-year rate (all included is a requirement for the two-year rate), then it gets more advantageous to take the offer for the All Included.

    All inclusive price

If you get an "all included" package deal, the price goes to the same amount after the promo ends whether or not you have 2 or 4 TV's. Case in point, if you have the Select all included, you get the standard promo rate of 50$ a month, and then 92$ a month after the expiration date. That's the...

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

Be careful about Maiden names, and all that.... I've seen instances where accounts were caught, canceled, and then charged the ECF anyway. 1. Yes, it can. Do not take a 5/12 even if that's what the agent says they have to offer you, because it can screw you out of better deals later on. 2...

2 years. Before that, you're considered a winback

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

Well, I can't speak for the AT&T wing of the company, but asking for customer loyalty group gets you to the states for DirecTV.

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

Yes, that 25$ credit runs independently of any other rebates or promotions you get. You can get a winback offer if you were under contract after the point of disconnection, yes. Just as an advisement to everyone who is reading this thread, though.. offers are going to vary from account to...

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

Yep. I see some people that will literally disconnect every year for the summer when they're not watching TV knowing damn well they'll get a winback offer.

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

Sounds like he got what's called a winback offer. For customers that are worth the trouble, they'll throw everything but the kitchen sink at you to bring you back if you actually disconnect. Winback offers are actually better, usually, than actual retention offers. Makes no sense to me, but...

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

I haven't heard anything on 5G, but it would make sense if they have the bandwidth to make it happen. Someone mentioned the HS17 earlier... I've yet to sell a single one of them. Personally, I hate the client/server system. If it was anything like when the genie launched, though, they'll...

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

I've heard about a possible rebranding, but it's just rumor and speculation. I'm not sure why they would launch a new streaming service under the DirecTV name, though, if that's the end game.

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

I think they'll keep u-verse around in some capacity for a while, simply because of MDU's and the like. They really, really , wanted that bandwith freed up, though, which is why they started pushing people toward the DirecTV.

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

2 years tends to be the sweet spot for calling for a retention offer. Make sure you're out of contract, because if you aren't, you'll be lucky to get anything at all. The real trick people don't get is that you can't overtap the well. If you get a promotion, take it, and when it expires, wait...

I work in retentions for DirecTV.. ask me anything you want to know

Full disclosure: I'm on my notice with the company, so I'm no longer worried about social media policies or anything like that. Anything you want to know, if I know it, I'll tell you. That being said, I'm leaving on decent terms, so I'm not looking to bury anyone out of spite, either.

A Thank You to Directv :)

We do the best we can. I won't speak for everyone, but when dealing with the customer service at DirecTV... just try to remember that we're human beings, too. And, as the old adage goes... you'll get more flies with honey than vinegar.

Bad experience with Directv call center in the Phillipines.

The CSR's are "tiered"... tech and billing agents are outsourced. Sales and retention agents are in the states.

Xtra + premium add on vs Premier

A couple of things to consider: 1. The Xtra package will only get you your local Rsn. The sports pack is required for anything else. 2. You are only saving yourself 7 or 8 bucks after it all pans out, if you opt into the sports pack.

    Current DirecTV Unadvertised Packages?

Sounds like what DirecTV is calling an "All included plan"... basically the charges for up to four receivers are factored into the monthly bill, whether you have four or not. For example, it used to be: Select was 53.99 Advanced Receiver 15.00 Primary receiver 7.00 Addtional receivers...

    Current DirecTV Unadvertised Packages?

Family package is still available, the best way to describe it is that it's essentially locals, religious programming, children's programming, and inoffensive material like DIY, Food network, etc. Curiously enough, ID is included, but regular Discovery is not. Family is 29.99 Preferred Xtra...

Hallmark Movies and Mysteries is now included in the Select, Entertainment, Preferred Xtra, and Premier channel packages without the HD Extra Pack.

    Retention offers are worse.

The lowered discounts have absolutely nothing to do with the ATT merger.

I Have A Question or 2 About DirecTV HD DVR

As stated previously, while you CAN get multiple HDDVR's, you're going to pay a pretty penny for them. DirecTV typically only allows for one advanced receiver per new install unless you want to pay through the nose for them. Pretty soon, virtually every customer will have a genie/client system.
